Scientology is slamming all reports that Cathriona White’s suicide was associated with the religion.
The Church of Scientology is currently bashing all reports that Cathriona White, the ex-girlfriend of Jim Carrey, who took her life last week, was studying the religion, leading to her death.
Tony Ortega, who has been a major critic of Scientology revealed the news on his Underground Bunker blog, broke the news on Thursday that Irish makeup artist White “was a Scientologist who took classes at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre.”
Ortega adds, “Cathriona originally got involved in Scientology about four to five years ago through members of musician Beck’s circle of friends. They encouraged her to move to the US from Ireland and take Scientology courses,” and that White had been “stalled .?.?. in the last six months” on an intense Scientology course called the Survival Rundown that can take “hundreds of hours to complete.” The blog also posted Instagram images of White, who died at 30, at the Celebrity Centre within the last year.
But a Scientology rep has told Page Six that all reports suggesting Cathriona White died to her association with the Church of Scientology is all false and a misappropriation of the facts.
“Saying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide. It is sad and reprehensible that a paid anti-Scientologist like Tony Ortega is exploiting this terrible tragedy involving a young woman: It’s a sign of outright bigotry.”
Recently, it was revealed that Cathriona White died by taking prescription pills originally prescribed to Jim Carrey.
