About:
Tamiyka White is an actor, director, writer, poet, stand - up comic and theatre producer. Her performances included Salome: 10 Poems about One Thing, When Stars Align at The Odyssey Theatre, Fire and Brimstone, Doubt, The Bluest Eye, A Raisin in The Sun, to name a few. Other stage credits: Miss Witherspoon, The Crucible, Jar the Floor and Before It Hits Home; Keith Antar Mason’s Mississippi Gulag. Her film credits: So F&%king Funny, The Boots (short film), White Rabbit, The Saint (short film) and Fifth Ward. Her writing credits: NO MERCY. Other co-writer credits include 1 hour drama, A.B.W.,Or Angry Black Women, a half-hour workspace comedy pilot entitled Bottom Feeders, and a half-hour dramedy called The Big Spin. Commercial credits include: TJMaxx Campaign that aired during the first episode of Season 2 on NBC’s This Is Us and Stub Hub commercial. Directing credits: Several 10-minute plays for Playground-LA: Pie Therapy, Meeting Matt Damon, and A Quiet Pause for the Rest of Your Life, Othello,Romeo and Juliet, and a staged reading of Taciturn Beings by Librecht Baker. The Rhythm of Blue, a documentary addressing mental illness in Black women is making the festival circuit, which was screened recently at the African American Women In Cinema Festival in New York. Stand-Up Comedy credits: The Comedy Store, Hollywood’s Improv and The Icehouse in Pasadena. Tamiyka is currently re-writing three of her pilots she’s created, along with her original solo project, The Weight, slated for mid December 2021. Tamiyka has recently worked as a Teaching Artist for the Children’s Institute and City of Los Angeles’s Department of Cultural Affairs. She recently received a Certificate of Completion from California State University Los Angeles’ College of Professional and Global Education for the inaugural Community Teaching Artist Certification Program. Tamiyka founded Black Girl Magic Creative Series in late January 2017. She also was Co-Founder and Managing Director of Renaissance Performing Arts Center, a non-profit arts organization founded in 1991, which she ran for 10 years in her hometown of Houston, Texas. She’s a graduate of the University of Houston and the Summer Training Congress at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. Ms. White is a member of both Actor’s Equity Association(AEA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA).
