Casting Call for “Torn” A Non-Union Student Short Film

0

Casting Call for “Torn” A Non-Union Student Short Film in Athens, Georgia

Synopsis: When two women escape from a human harvesting facility, personal feelings on friendship and freedom clash as they debate whether to return to the camp to try and save those left behind, or continue towards the coast in order to save themselves and build a new life together.

Characters:

– Shay: Trans woman*, early to late 20s, any ethnicity. Forms a close connection with Tali after being placed in a holding cell together. More big-picture, a critical thinker who refuses to let others define her. The “head” of the pair, searching for meaning and balance. She struggles with her desire to escape with Tali, protect her pride and personhood, and stand in solidarity with the other women in the harvesting camp.
*Specifically seeking a Trans actress for this role, though all interest is appreciated.

– Tali: Female, early to late 20s, any ethnicity. Forms a close connection with Shay prior to their escape, nearly to the point of exaltation. Tenacious, but impulsive. Lost her mother in the first kidnapping sweep; fear-driven, well-meaning but somewhat naive. The “heart” of the pair, searching for happiness and security. Entrenched too deeply in her feelings for Shay and her own insecurities, she has trouble understanding Shay’s more holistic perspective when it does not fit with how she originally perceives her.

What You Need To Earn To Be in the Middle Class in Every State

How Many Days of Extra Work You Need to Do To Be in The Middle Class

“Middle Class” doesn’t have an official definition. But, according to the Pew Charitable Trust defines it as households that earn between 67 and 200 percent of a state’s median income. Based on this metric and several statistics, Business Insider came up with a list of how much you have to earn to be considered middle class, depending on your state.

Analyzing the numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2013 American Community survey and found that the middle class has basically decreased in every state between 2000 and 2013.

How to NOT Land a Role on a TV Show

You can see the full results below. In the left column you will see the median household income for each state. The middle column is the minimum you have to earn to be considered middle class, based on Pew’s definition. And the right column is the upper range of middle class.

Visit Business Insider’s full link for more information.

Another Major TV and Movie Studio is Headed to Atlanta

0

Another major movie and TV studio is headed to Atlanta, Georgia.

According to reports, developers announced that the former General Motors Doraville Assembly Plant will be transformed into film and TV studios, offices, retail, restaurants and more.

From Curbed:

The first phase of a new production complex called “Third Rail Studios” — a nod to the rail lines that served the shuttered GM Plant — is expected to open as early as the fourth quarter of this year, marking the first studios of this magnitude inside the Perimeter, officials said. Adaptive-reuse fans will be pleased to know this initial phase involves the conversion of an existing 130,000-square-foot factory building into sound stages, administrative offices, vendor spaces and mill shops to support production.

The movie studio will be placed in the “yards district” which is in a perfect location because the MARTA train station is located across the street making it easily accessible for aspiring actors, filmmakers, and producers living in the city of Atlanta.

This is the latest movie studio to open in Atlanta. Recently, Pinewood Studios announced they will be expanding their movie studio, Tyler Perry is in talks to purchase a former fort and turn it into a movie studio, and Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta opened their doors earlier this year.

Expect Georgia’s film industry to continue to grow.

Kanye West is Getting Sued Over the Title of His New Movie

0

Kanye West and Dame Dash are getting sued over the title of their new movie.

Kanye West and Dame Dash are getting sued over their short film, Loisaidas, according to TMZ.

A bachata music group of the same name say the movie stole and tarnishes their name, as the movie features scenes of violence and drugs.

“I’m disgusted that they’re taking a brand that I made and built and turning it into something that it isn’t,” Michael Medina — president/CEO of independent record label, 848 Enterprises, which is home to Loisaidas — says in a suit filed on Thursday, April 2, according to Page Six.

From Billboard:

Dash wasn’t initially aware he was being sued by Loisaidas until he read the news. “I didn’t even know I was getting sued. I found out about it on TMZ,” he tells Billboard.

The music-industry entrepreneur believes that their claim about the film — directed and funded by Dash and executive produced by West — tarnishing their name falls under “perception.” “That’s a perception. That doesn’t mean I have to get sued,” says Dash. “The approach doesn’t seem logical.”

Dame Dash also went on Instagram to discuss the lawsuit: “How the f–k I’m i supposed to know there is a group called @loisaidas and why wouldn’t they just call me first…why tmz? [sic]” Dash checked the Loisaidas trademark saying, “The stupid ass crew that’s talking about suing me doesn’t even own their own trademark…”

Kanye West and Dame Dash have recently agreed to purchase Karmaloop and the music executives plan on opening the store in New York City.

Bruce Jenner Facing Major Lawsuit After Fatal Car Accident

0

Bruce Jenner is facing a major lawsuit after the car accident that left one woman killed.

The stepchildren of the woman who was killed in the Bruce Jenner car crash are setting themselves up for a wrongful death lawsuit, according to TMZ.

Kim Howe was driving her Lexus on Pacific Coast Highway on February 7th when Bruce slammed into her, sending her car careening into the lane of oncoming traffic where a Hummer demolished her car.

Howe has no direct relatives. Her husband died in 2003, and it appears her parents are deceased as well as other immediate blood relatives.

Kim does have 2 grown stepkids, neither of whom live in California. We spoke with people who were extremely close to Kim who tell us she had “virtually no relationship” with either stepchild.

What’s extremely interesting is that the stepchildren had basically no relationship to their mother and were not even listed in the woman’s will. According to TMZ, Kim Howe had a trust fund with millions in assets that were all going to go to charity foundations including PETA, Lange Foundation, PAWS (Performing Animals Welfare Society), Doris Day Animal League and The Elephant Sanctuary of Tennessee.

Are her stepchildren just trying to get rich of their step-mother’s accidental death? Maybe. But, Bruce Jenner better lawyer up because these kids are coming for his money.

‘Play-Doh’ Movie is Coming Soon

0

Hollywood is attempting to bring a ‘Play-Doh’ movie.

Hollywood is either running out of ideas or they know something I don’t know because, Hollywood executives are strongly considering a ‘Play-Doh’. As part of Hasbro and 20th Century Fox, producers are planning a Play-Doh.

Paul Feig, the director of the upcoming Ghostbusters female reboot, is attached to direct the new ‘Play-Doh’ movie.

From Deadline:

Feig, coming off the Melissa McCarthy-Sandra Bullock comedy Heat, is prepping to release the Fox comedy Spy and he’ll next direct a new Ghostbusters at Sony with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Hasbro approach Feig and Chernin and they spent a long time coming up with a take for a feature, and then turned Micallef loose on the script.

Deadline compares this new ‘Play-Doh’ movie to the wildly successful feature film, ‘The Lego Movie’ which maybe a stretch.

Before you start writing a catty comment about how Play-Doh isn’t a movie and Hollywood has run out of ideas, remember it’s the same one you wrote when Warner Bros began planning movies based on LEGO. There, the talented team of Phil Lord & Christopher Miller found a disruptive movie in those building blocks that cost $60 million, grossed $658 million worldwide, and hatched not only a sequel but spinoffs.

It seems hard to believe that movie producers can actually make a movie out of a clump of clay. But, stranger things have happened in the film industry.

Netflix renews ‘House of Cards’ for another season.

According to reports, Netflix is bringing back the original series “House of Cards” for a fourth season.

‘House of Cards’ centers around Kevin Spacey as President Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as his plotting wife.

For its first season, House of Cards received nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, becoming the first original online-only web television series to receive major Emmy nominations.

The first two seasons of ‘House of Cards’ were critically acclaimed. However, season 3 of ‘House of Cards’ was met with disappointment.

Nick Gillespie of The Daily Beast who accused the writers of “descending into prosaic moralism” in season 3 and asserts that it deviates from the show’s original intent, and Michael Wolff of USA Today plainly asserts that “the third season of House of Cards is no good…not just no good, but incompetent, a shambles, lost.”
