New ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Movies Will Center Around Boba Fett

0

The next ‘Star Wars’ anthology series to premiere in 2018 will center around Boba Fett.

According to The Wrap, the new movie that director Josh Trank was fired from will be a Bobba Fett origin story.

Boba Fett was a Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter. His father, Jango taught Boba training him to become a skilled bounty hunter as was his father-figure before him. As a boy, Boba was forced to grow up and took to traveling the galaxy. Later, he became a bounty hunter and took assignments from beings such as Jabba the Hutt, and achieved notoriety despite his young age.

George Lucas Star Wars

The character was primarily played by English actor Jeremy Bulloch in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”.

The first standalone ‘Star Wars’ movie will be ‘Star Wars: Rogue One,” which will star Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed. That film follows a group of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

With rebel spies the focus of “Rogue One,” the next anthology film will explore the world of bounty hunters in the “Star Wars” galaxy. According to reports, writers for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ have been closely involved in the creative process.

starwars

Director, Josh Trank, who directed ‘Chronicle’ and the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie was allegedly fired from the ‘Star Wars’ movie earlier last week. He claimed it was his decision. However, sources report that Disney fired the director for his “erratic behavior” during the production of ‘Fantastic Four’. “After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities,” said Trank, who cited a nasty flu as the reason why he missed the Star Wars celebration in April, though insiders suggest that Disney asked him not to attend.

Disney and Lucasfilm are searching for a new director, who could be hired before ‘Rogue One’ starts production this summer.

A&E’s ‘8 Minutes’ Promised Sex Workers Help But Gave Them Nothing

0

Sex workers reveal A&E’s reality show ‘8 Minutes’ promised them help but ultimately gave them nothing.

Four sex workers who were filmed as part of the A&E reality series ‘8 Minutes’ – where former cop and current pastor Kevin Brown “hires” sex workers and then attempts to convince them to change their lives by leaving the business – claimed the show was nothing more than a joke filled with false promises.

The women told BuzzFeed that after receiving nominal fees (around $200 for appearing in an episode) and agreeing to accept “medical, dental, housing, and employment assistance” for leaving sex work behind, attempts to follow-up with the show and network were met with silence. One woman, Gina, said she “didn’t get a fucking thing.” Another woman, Donna, claims the only “assistance” she was provided was the phone number of a counselor.

Kamylla received a call on her work number from the producers of the show, who immediately identified themselves as such (this is in contrast to the premise of the show, which implies that the women believe they are coming to a normal appointment, only to be met by Brown). She agreed to tape a segment for the show, in which she said she wanted help getting out of the business, and after the taping was told she’d soon hear back with more information and assistance.

She never heard back from them, and instead reached out herself, but no meaningful help was to come. Kamylla found herself broke and needing to work again. She posted an ad, using the same number the 8 Minutes producers had contacted her on, and was arrested in a sting. Now she was broke, frightened, and facing criminal charges, and when she reached out for help from 8 Minutes, Brown offered to pray for her.

The show ultimately left women exposed, declining to blur their faces for broadcast and not taking measures to protect their identities – one woman, Jazzy, said her husband found out about her sex work after watching her on the show. “It took less than an hour for this reporter to find contact information for three women using only the information A&E broadcast on television,” BuzzFeed’s Ariane Lange reported.

The show as called appalling, and ignorant of how sex workers really lived, when the show premiered last month. A&E apparently is trying to forget the show ever aired and according to reports, the show was ultimately cancelled earlier today.

Atlanta Public Schools Partner with Georgia’s Film Industry

0

Atlanta Public School System joins forces with Georgia’s Film industry to help students land jobs in Georgia’s growing movie business.

According to reports, Fulton County School System and the planned movie studio, Atlanta Metro Studios, have announced a partnership to help fast-track students into Georgia’s growing film industry. The partnership will provide a scholarship fund for up to six 2015 Fulton County high school graduates to enroll in Clayton State University’s Digital Film Crew Training Program.

With more and more movies and TV shows filming in Georgia, there are not enough skilled workers to work on the productions. State officials are addressing the issue by creating a Georgia Film Academy that would unite the University System of Georgia and Technical College System of Georgia with local sound stages to increase the number of educated crew members.

From Biz Journals:

“The scholarships are for two 12-week sessions we do that run back to back,” Bond said. “We run them through the program, and it takes another three to six months after that to get them into the union and working on projects.”

The goal is for the students to be done with their training by the time Atlanta Metro Studios is slated to open in Union City in Spring 2016.

The financial details of the scholarships are still being worked out.

Bond said if this phase of the program is successful, Clayton State plans to implement dual-credit classes in local high schools that would allow students to take the first of its two programs before they graduate to speed up the process even more. He said though dual credit programs are very common for more traditional studies, this program could be the first in the country to extend to film and television production.

‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff is Based On Bath Salts and Ebola

0

The new ‘Walking Dead’ spinoff is based on the news story about bath salts.

It is always interesting to learn how producers create TV shows and episodes. According to ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ show producer Greg Nicotero, just watching the evening news can be the inspiration he needs to create a storyline.

AMC’s new ‘Fear The Walking Dead’, ‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off, is heavily based on the headlines of the past few years. Greg Nicotero said that the showcking bath salt “zombie attack” news of 2012 played a major role in writing the new show:

“What’s important in the spin-off is how people react to it. It really is a fascinating statement on current society, because we get most of our information from our iPads and our phones. There have been things that have been happening in recent years… When you hear stories like that, about a guy who attacked someone and bit their face off, imagine how we reacted to that news story at the time.”

Greg Nicotero also said the recent Ebola virus outbreak had a major impact on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’

“Even in the U.S., there was a nurse who was working in Africa and who came back to the United States and refused to go into quarantine for Ebola. So I think about stories like that and I go: ‘Wow, maybe that could have been the beginning, or maybe this could have been the beginning.’ In a TV show like Fear the Walking Dead, you get to ask those same questions.”

Truth is always stranger than fiction and it will be interesting to see ‘The Walking Dead’ version on our modern day problems.

Taco Bell is Giving Away Free Tacos on Cinco de Mayo

0

Taco Bell is giving away free tacos on Cinco de Mayo.

Taco Bell is giving away free tacos today to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. In addition, the fast food chain is calling the event  “Breakfast Defector Day.”

The sausage biscuit tacos will be given away at participating locations between 7 and 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. Each individual costumer is only allowed one taco, but if there’s one Taco Bell in your area, there’s got to be at least two more within 20 minutes. If you start early, you could hit 3, maybe even 10 franchises before you realize that you’re too full to ever eat again.

Unlike McDonald’s, which was asking customers for a Taco Bell receipt when it was giving out free breakfast in April, Taco Bell just wants you to show up early and hungry.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Acts Out All of His Movies in 6 Minutes and It’s Amazing

0

Arnold Schwarzenegger acts out all of his classic movies in six minutes and it’s hilarious.

Small clips from almost all of his movies, replayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. He is only helped by cheap stock footage, props, and The Late Late Show’s host James Corden.

From ‘Pumping Iron’ to ‘Conan’ to even ‘Escape Plan’ is there, and he still got it. The only sad thing here is to realize he has gotten old over the years. Happens to all of us. Even Terminator.

Officers at the scene reported smelling alcohol on Gilliam’s breath and finding a marijuana cigarette inside a cigarette pack in the arm rest of the door, according to reports. [The Citizen]

Gilliam was charged with a DUI after having a blood alcohol level of .107. Gilliam told officers he had three beers and a shot of alcohol.

Gilliam plays Father Gabriel Stokes on ‘The Walking Dead’ and ironically was a ball-busting Baltimore cop on ‘The Wire’.

‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Reveals What It’s Like to Get Killed Off and It’s Horrible

Sunday’s ‘Game of Thrones’ killed off Daenerys’ trusted after he was overwhelmed by a gang of insurgents in Meereen. The scene showed Ser Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) but it also marked the exit of a kind and noble character in the series.

Ser Barristan had a major role in the ‘Game of Thrones’ series and his death also represents another departure from the orginal book series, where Ser Barristan is still alive.

While it may be a great feeling to be a cast member on ‘Game of Thrones’ but, getting killed off is horrible. In a recent interview with EW, Ian McElhinney explains what it was like to get written off the show and it’s pretty damn depressing.

How did you find out?
It proves you should probably not read the books. I’ve read the books. So I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, ‘That doesn’t tally.’ Because there was no way if they were sticking to the books that I should be in for that number of weeks. It seemed to me they must be writing me out. So I had a word with the line producer and said, “Can you corroborate that they’re writing me out?” Then the [showrunners] rang me and told me, ‘Your time is up in this series.’ So perhaps I took them by surprise that I knew.

In comparison, on ‘The Walking Dead’ producers call the actors and let them know kindly and on their final day of filming, cast and crew hold a “last dinner” for the actors. It sounds like getting killed off on ‘Game of Thrones’ is just as brutal as the fight scenes themselves.
