How ‘Fantastic Four’ Ruined an Actor’s Movie Career

0

Fantastic Four ruined this actor’s movie career.

The drama for the superhero drama seems like it’s getting worse and worse. After the reported $60 million loss for Fox, a public dispute between the cast and the director, and drop in the number of acting jobs for Toby Kebbell, Fantastic Four just looks like it’s cursed.

Fox was still planning on creating a sequel as the movie was bombing in theaters, reports suggest that they have finally removed Fantastic Four 2 from their release schedule, revealing the news Monday evening – with no report on when or if they will ever make another Fantastic Four movie.

Fox currently holds the Fantastic Four rights until 2022, so they have time to decide if they will still go ahead with a delayed sequel or if they will hold off and reboot the franchise just to retain the movie rights.

But, there is so much drama behind the scenes that it begs the question, why should Fox actually remake the franchise.

In Hollywood, one bad movie can ruin an actor’s movie career and Fantastic Four was the staple for a Box Office movie bomb. If there was a class on box office flops, Fantastic Four would be the introduction, chapter 1, and final exam for a box office disappoint. But, one actor is struggling to find his next acting job after Fantastic Four. For instance, Toby Kebbell, the actor who played Doctor Doom, revealed that the number of acting jobs have stopped because he appeared in Fantastic Four

“A film like that comes out, and I’m being sent maybe four scripts in a week, and those scripts go to zero when it doesn’t come out successful, so that actively affects my career. I think it’s vitally important that if there’s a problem on set, that it’s voiced and we solve it there and I think that collaboration is very important. Not to say that didn’t happen on set, but the collaboration is vital and if we don’t do that, then we suffer.”

And that sucks. Hopefully, his next movie, World of Warcraft the Movie, rebounds the actor’s career.

Casting Director Salary – Here’s How Much CDs Get Paid

0

How much does a casting director make a year?

A casting director is someone who chooses the talent to appear in a movie, TV show, or modeling production. There are no special educational requirements to become a casting director. However, it helps if someone in the casting industry has experience acting and understands the fundamentals of character analysis, film industry expectations, and character development. Many casting directors work as independent contractors; While casting companies employ others. Because the film industry depends on every production, the salary of a casting director depends on the movie, tv-show, and individual.

So how much does a casting director make?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment and Wages report, the median salary for casting directors in 2011 was $70,660 per year or about $34 an hour. The bottom 10 percent of those casting directors made no less than $32,000 per year, while the top 10 percent earned over $187,000 per year.

But, how much casting directors earn depends where casting directors live and work. For example, the two-highest paying states for casting directors are California and New York. California casting directors receive, on average, $62 per hour while New York casting directors make about $54 per hour.

CDs who have been in the business for a long time earn more than new casting directors. For example, major film producers and film directors pay big money to experienced casting directors to hire background actors to work on a production. As a casting director builds a list of clients, he or she creates a name in the entertainment industry, which results in higher compensation. For example, the salary for a casting director that only casts student short films earns less than the casting director for a big-budget feature film.

Want to join the casting business?

The U.S. Department of Labor considers the demand for this occupation to increase by 10% from 2010 to 2020, which means an increase of 49,7000 jobs over ten years.

What Does a Casting Director Do?

What does a casting director really do? Casting directors are necessarily the gatekeepers for actors in the film industry. That said, it is essential to note casting directors do not make the final decision. However,…

Will Smith: Prejudice is Everywhere, ‘Racism is Actually Rare’

0

Will Smith thinks there is a major problem in Hollywood today.

Smith, who is actively working on getting an Oscar for his work on Concussionwas asked about diversity in Hollywood during THR’s awards-season Actor Roundtable. Will Smith argued that he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith had just been talking about the difference between “racism” and “prejudice.”

“Everybody is prejudiced,” he said. “Everybody has their life experiences that make them prefer one thing over another — it makes them prefer blond hair over a brunette; if you see somebody with dark skin walking down the street, you have a different reaction than you have [with] someone who is 5-foot-1 and white.”

Will Smith

The definition of “racism,” he said, implies something worse, the belief that “your race generally is superior.”

“And I have to say, I live with constant prejudice, but racism is actually rare — someone who thinks their race is superior,” Smith continued.

Will Smith said that, on rare occasions when he’s encountered someone in Hollywood who is actually racist, he immediately decides to stop working with them. And, surprisingly he says, it does happen.

The interview then asked if actors could do anything to fight this kind of racism. Samuel L. Jackson responded with a simple “No.” But, Will Smith was a little more open about their chances of change in Hollywood.

“As actors, we have the ultimate power,” he said. “Historically, story combined with imagery moves humanity forward. What we do — not that it’s a responsibility, but it is the ultimate forum for changing people’s hearts and minds.”

The last few years have been a rough patch for Will Smith‘s acting career after several big budget movies bombed in the Box Office. It has been a long time since the actor said that 1999 is “a great time to be black in Hollywood.”

Box Office: ‘The Night Before’ and ‘Secret in Their Eyes’ Flop

0

Seth Rogen’s Night Before and Julia Roberts supposed comeback movie, Secret in Their Eyes,  a box office flop

Secret In Their Eyes is written and directed by Billy Ray, and based on the 2005 novel The Question in their Eyes written by Argentinian author Eduardo Sacheri.

The movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dean Norris and Michael Kelly.

The movie centers around a team of FBI investigators who are torn apart when they discover Jess (Julia Roberts) daughter has been brutally murdered. They are able to arrest a suspect, however he is an informant for the government and he is let go and the evidence is destroyed.

Secret in their Eyes received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie had a rating of 42% with the site’s critical consensus saying: “Secret in Their Eyes wastes its incredible cast on a remake that fails to improve upon – or even make a compelling case for its own existence in addition to – the remarkable original.”

But, the worst part of all is that the movie bombed in the box office. According to reports, Secret in their Eyes made only $6.63 million in the United States and only $443,000 around the world, against a movie budget of 19.5 million dollars.

Analysts argue that because the movie opened alongside The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and The Night Before it was never expected to be a box office hit movie. But, the movie made $3 million less than expectations.

But Julia Roberts was not alone. The Night Before tanked in the box office.

The Night Before
The Night Before

The 2015 Christmas comedy  directed by Jonathan Levine written by Levine, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir, and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg opened way less than expecatations.

The movie stars Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie and centers around the reunion of three childhood friends on Christmas Eve. But,, because Isaac (Rogen) is going to be a father and Chris (Anthony Mackie) has become famous, all three decide to have one last Christmas Eve out in New York City.

The Night Before had mixed reviews just like Secret in their Eyes. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie had a 63% rating with a critical consesus saying, “”The Night Before provokes enough belly laughs to qualify as a worthwhile addition to the list of Christmas comedies worth revisiting, even if it isn’t quite as consistent as the classics.”

But, the movie tanked in the box office earning $10.1 million, way below expectations and finishing fourth at the box office behind Mockingjay Part 2, Spectre, and The Peanuts Movie.

Donald Trump Retweet Sparks “Racist” Controversy

0

Donald Trump called a “racist” after retweeting false statistics that claim most white people are killed by black people.

Donald Trump retweeted numbers on murders committed by black people. The Republican presidential candidate was branded “racist” by critics on Twitter after re-tweeted the fake crime stats, which wrongly state that most murders of black and white people are committed by black men and women.

Dozens of people responded by pointing out that those numbers are wrong, but the “source” the Crime Statistics Bureau – San Francisco does not even exist.

According to official statistics by the FBI in 2014, 82% of murders with white victims were committed by white people, far higher than what Donald Trump posted on Twitter.

Donald Trump
Donald Trump/Twitter.com

Meanwhile, less than 15% of white murder victims were killed by black people.

The real numbers also show that more than 7% of black murder victims are killed by  white people. And 90% of black murder victims are killed by black people.

It is important to point out that the tweet was originally posted on Saturday by Twitter users @CheesedBrit, whose Twitter profile picture is a neo-Nazi logo.

Hundreds of people spotted Donald Trump‘s tweet and called him “Racist” including, NY Daily News reporter, Shaun King saying: “he is the most racist, offensive presidential candidate in modern American history… and he’s in the lead.”

Whether we like it or not, the horrific white supremacy of Donald Trump is a reflection of a very real portion of America.

Worse than David Duke, he is the most racist, offensive presidential candidate in modern American history… and he’s in the lead.

This news comes as Donald Trump called out the Black Lives Movement protestor who was assaulted by Trump supporters last week. “Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,” Trump said on the Fox News Channel on Sunday morning. “I have a lot of fans, and they were not happy about it. And this was a very obnoxious guy who was a trouble-maker who was looking to make trouble.”

The Republican primary is 70 days away and Donald Trump is in a double digit lead against his opponents, according to a recent Washington Post poll.

You Can Now Submit Your TV or Movie Script Directly to Amazon

0

Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Storywriter, a a free screenwriting software for writers to create TV and film screenplays, offering an alternative to costly industry tools.

Screenwriting tools are typically expensive when it comes to software, but Amazon released a free tool called Storywriter that provides a free screenwriting tool that saves directly to the cloud.

Amazon Storywriter automatically formats a screenplay for dialogue, transitions and action descriptions. While the only font is Courier (an industry staple), users can easily export the screenplay in a matter of seconds.

The Amazon app also comes with a Chrome extension that allows you to work on the screenplay while offline.

Amazon StoryWriter
Amazon StoryWriter

The Amazon app itself is pretty typical when it comes to screenwriting tools, but the free price tag is great for anyone trying to get into the film industry.

“Amazon is thrilled to support the evolution of our creative community by offering advanced tools like Amazon Storywriter to assist both established and aspiring writers in telling their stories,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios. “Amazon is dedicated to producing high-quality, original films and television series that customers love, and enabling more writers to obtain access to creative resources will ultimately help us discover great new talent.”

But, the best part of Amazon Storywriter is that you can easily submit your script directly to Amazon Studios from the app. But, be aware that there’s a a pretty big “similar content” agreement clause that details exactly what Amazon can take from your script without giving you any credit.

For more information, please visit here.

American Music Awards 2015 – Best and Worst Moments

0

American Music Awards aired on Sunday and here are the best and worst moments on the night.

Jennifer Lopez’s back-up dancer exposed more than intended during the singer’s opening performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

The 46-year-old singer/actress kicked off the AMA on Sunday with an energetic dance routine showing the world that she still has it.

But towards the end of the act, one of her dancers flashed the entire world as her catsuit split and revealed everything for the world to see.

Jennifer Lopez AMA 2015

Viewers caught the embarrassing moment, which was caught on ABC and went viral in a matter of few minutes.

But, this didn’t stop Jennifer Lopez as many called Lopez’s performance the best moment of the night.

But, that was not the only highlight of the evening.

Following the recent terror attack in Paris, actor Jared Leto introduced singer Celine Dion and the words
“France matters. Russia matters. Syria matters. Mali matters. The Middle East matters. The United States matters. The entire world matters, and peace is possible.”

Dion launched into an emotional rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne a L’amour” as a orchestra played and images of Paris flashed in the background.

But, nothing will compare to The Muppets parody of Adele’s hit song, Hello. In one of the best parodies ever, Miss Piggy and Kermit sang Adele’s “Hello” video in an ad  for “The Muppets” TV show — and it was hilarious.

The Walking Dead Spoilers – We Find Out What Happened to Glenn Tonight!

Sunday, marks the debut of The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 7, meaning we only have one episode to go before the highly anticipated midseason finale.

According to The Spoiling Dead Fans, here’s what happens on Sunday night’s episode.

– Glenn’s alive, just like a lot of people expected. He crawled under the dumpster, killed some walkers to block out the others with the dead bodys and then waited until they disappeared. The intestines we’ve seen being ripped out are indeed from Nicholas.

– He meets Enid who gives him water but wants him to leave her alone. He talks her into going back to Alexandria with him. It looks like Enid takes the place of comic Sophia as Glenn and Maggie’s foster child.

– The storyline ends when they arrive at Alexandria and see the city surrounded by walkers. They call attention to themselves with a bunch of balloons though.
The rest of the episode is basically build-up for the mid-season finale and the main theme is “Alexandrians are stupid”:

– Everybody discusses plans how to get out of the city to lure the walkers away but nothing really happens.

– Spencer tries to get out by climbing hand over hand across the rope of a grappling iron, is almost eaten in the process but saved by Rick and Tara.

– Rick and Carl show Ron how to use a weapon but don’t want to give him bullets. Later he steals some.

– Morgan asks Denise to help him out with the wounded wolf. Carol is suspicious, follows him and confronts him at the hideout.

– The cliffhanger is a tumbling watchtower destroying the wall.

A member on IMDb has posted a breakdown for Sunday’s episode. We have sent it to one of our sources and the information…
