About Lore:

According to reports, LORE is a new TV series based on the LORE podcast. Lore will be an unscripted series and will tell real-life stories of the “frightening, psychologically disturbing and paranormal true events that spawn our modern-day nightmares.” The 10-episode first season is set to premiere next year on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S., U.K., Austria, Germany and Japan.

The Best of Enemies will tell the story of 2 major civil rights activitists (Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis) at a prominent point in their lives – North Carolina’s decision to integrate black and white schools. History often has a darker side, especially when dealing with history in the south, and this film will respectfully bring that darkness into the light as we deal with the issue of racism. C.P. Ellis was born and raised on the poor west side of Durham, North Carolina, and as a young man, he joined the Ku Klux Klan seeking a sense of brotherhood and belonging. That being said, we are looking for background actors who are comfortable portraying C.P.’s fellow Klansmen in 1971.

‘Fate of the Furious’ Hired Over 1,600 Atlanta Workers

It’s pretty clear that The Fate of the Furious is the movie of the year. It beat out Disney’s Star Wars: the force awakens in the box office and earned over $530 million worldwide. But did you know the movie featuring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Charlize Theron filmed in Atlanta, Georgia?

We were fortunate enough to post and share several the casting calls for the feature film as it filmed throughout the ATL. Now according to the Motion Picture Association of America MPAA,  production contributed over $65 million to George’s local economy. As a result, local businesses across several economic sectors benefited. In addition, the movie employed over 1600 local workers but took home more than $25 million in wages.

The production of The Fate of the Furious spent nearly 200 days in Georgia. A significant portion of the production’s investment supported a wide array of in-state vendors, including numerous small businesses, such as:

  • Over $17.6 million on local rentals and purchases for set decoration, production, and other supplies.
  • Over $4.3 million on hardware and lumber supplies.
  • More than $3.2 million on lodging.
  • Over $2 million on catering, bakery goods and other food items.
  • More than $2.7 million on transportation, including truck and car rentals.

“Not only does this film carry on a popular series, The Fate of the Furious exemplifies the incredible economic benefits the film industry brings to a state, MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd stated.

How Vin Diesel Landed the Lead Role in ‘Fast and the Furious’

Vin Diesel has made an acting career out of starring in action franchises such as the Chronicles of Riddick and XXX. He also showcased his voice acting talents in the Guardians of the Galaxy. But, he his most well-known role is the leader of the Torretto family in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Torretto has appeared in seven of the films including the eighth box office of breaking installment The Fate of the Furious movie, and there is no sign that he’s going to slow down.

Even after walking away from the first sequel, Diesel has become connected to the franchise. However, it may not have started that way. In fact, another well-known actor turned down the role.

Neal H. Moritz, the producer of every single Fast And The Furious film, recently spoke with Bill Simmons on The Bill Simmons Podcast. He revealed that Justified star Timothy Olyphant was originally eyed to play Dom. 

Moritz recalls showing the script for the original 2001 movie to star Paul Walker and director Rob Cohen and reveals just how serious the studio was getting Elephant to star.

“I had been working with Paul Walker on another movie, ‘Skulls,’ and I gave him the script [for The Fast and the Furious]… Rob Cohen, who I had made ‘The Rat Pack’ with, we gave him the script. The two of them liked the idea. And then we had to look for Dom Toretto. The studio said, ‘If you can get Timothy Olyphant to play that role we will greenlight the movie.’

Before appearing in the hit FX TV series ‘Justified,’ Olyphant stars in the hit HBO series Deadwood, Scream 2, Go and Gone in Sixty Seconds. Moritz praised Olyphant’s acting skills while wondering how it might have worked out.

“The luckiest thing that ever happened to us is Tim Olyphant turned us down. He’s a great actor. In fact, I’m curious to see what that movie would have been.”

Moritz suggested Diesel after seeing him in the film Saving Private Ryan. Moritz described meeting Diesel and how Diesel managed to make an incredible first impression.

“I went and met him at Kate Mantilini [restaurant], and he wasn’t a star yet, but the great thing about Vin is he always believed he was a star… And I was going in there to think he’s coming to me to want the role and I’m the one there now having to convince him to do the role! Lucky for both of us that happened. And then we started to make the movie.”

The rest is history.

‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 is Now Casting Speaking Roles

According to MCU exchange, a casting call breakdown has recently been posted online and casting directors are now casting speaking roles, recurring rules, and day player roles for the hit Netflix TV series Jessica Jones.

Filming has recently begun with Will Travel about traveling with Krysten Ritter in New York City. Additionally, Oscar-nominated actress Jessica McTeer was recently added to the cast for an unnamed but critical role.

Marvel uses codenames and character breakdowns that begin with the same letter is the actual name of the character, according to MCU exchange. Currently, casting directors or casting series of roles but details on what these characters will be doing the show have not been released.

BOX OFFICE: ‘Fate of the Furious’ Breaks Worldwide Record

Currently, the record for the biggest global weekend of all time is currently held by Disney’s Star Wars: the force awakens with $529 million. But, the Fate of the Furious has race to the top of the box office chart breaking an international record. The eighth film in the action thriller franchise took hold an estimated $532.5 million over the Easter weekend. This will make it the strongest worldwide debut ever overtaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

That said, the box office earnings for the Fast and Furious franchise were down in the United States in comparison to the previous Furious 7 movie. For example, Furious 7 opened with $147.2m in the United States when it was released in 2015 but, the latest sequel took home $47 million less.

The movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, who said he felt “grateful, humbled and blessed” after the film’s success.

These box office numbers are quite astounding, especially for being the eighth movie in the franchise, and against all odds, this franchise seems to get bigger and bigger each time out. Worldwide the first movie only earned $207 million in the box office and that flatlined in 2006 with the global release of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Since then the movie’s box office. Has rose incrementally but it would be the furious seven to $1.5 billion in the box office helping solidify the movie franchise in the process.

Not bad for a franchise I lost the movie’s main actor, Paul Walker, to a tragic car accident four years ago. Ultimately, this movie knows exactly how to appeal to their target audience both in the United States and worldwide. The feature film includes a diverse cast and a large amount of shooting locations all around the world including Siberia and Georgia

Filming in Los Angeles Hits New Low

Filming in Los Angeles, California has hit a new low. According to reports, location filming for movies in Los Angeles fell by 35% in the first three months of 2017, which is bad news considering LA once had an increase of filming by 25% towards the end of 2016.

The only type of content that did well NLA was web-based content. Web-content is a short and low-budget content that you typically see on Instagram, Snapchat, or YouTube.

“Feature production levels are proving highly cyclical and difficult to evaluate on a quarter-by-quarter basis,” said Paul Audley, president of FilmLA. “Last year local feature production hit a seven-year high – so trendspotting in this segment requires a deeper dive.”

So why is filming in LA dropping at a considerable rate? The organization said that the lack of open soundstages in Los Angeles is a possible contributing factor behind the reduced number of productions.

Currently, California has a $330 million tax credit to support film and TV productions. However, only a small fraction of those that apply for the tax credit are approved.

In fact, less than 1/4 feature film shot in LA in the first three months of 27 team had tax credit support. Nevertheless, Los Angeles has started a goal of convincing more TV producers to locate their shows in California. Earlier this month, Netflix announced their plans to focus on infrastructure and film all of their productions in Los Angeles, California

History often has a darker side, especially when dealing with history in the south, and this film will respectfully bring that darkness into the light as we deal with the issue of racism. C.P. Ellis was born and raised on the poor west side of Durham, North Carolina, and as a young man, he joined the Ku Klux Klan seeking a sense of brotherhood and belonging. That being said, we are looking for background actors who are comfortable portraying C.P.’s fellow Klansmen in 1971.

We are NOT seeking actual members of the Ku Klux Klan and as with any set, we hold a zero tolerance policy against racism, sexism, etc.! We are seeking actors, not pro-white activists. The majority of the Klan scenes involve a group of men at the local meeting hall. This is a time when the Klan was an accepted part of society and a supporter of the pro-segregation movement.
