Writer, director, producer and entrepreneur Tyler Perry is working on “The Oval”, which is a new BET Networks drama set in the White House and focusing on a fictional first family.
Filming is set to film this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia. The show’s cast includes Ed Quinn, Kron Moore, Paige Hurd, and Daniel Croix Henderson.
“I’ve been hard at work on The Oval and can’t wait to share this story with audiences,” Perry said in a press release. “I’ve set out to create a show that tells the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.”
Tyler Perry, 49, wrote the series and will also be directing and producing the project. His many credits include the Madea franchise as well as the OWN series, “The Haves and the Have Nots”.

‘Dora the Explorer’ actress, Isabela Moner, opens up about the challenges of playing the iconic children’s character.
Isabela Moner, who stars as the famously curious character in the film, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about why she really enjoyed the opportunity to play the character in the live-action movie.
Moner previously starred in “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” and “Instant Family”, two relatively dramatic feature films.
That said, Isabela Moner admits that she was excited to play a high school version Dora sit allowed her the opportunity to play the kind of character. She explains, “It was actually kind of a relief because, usually, those are the roles that I’m offered. You’d be surprised… Directors and writers seem to think that only one kind of teenager exists: the angsty and sassy one with attitude. It’s fine to an extent, but it just gets boring as an actor. So, I was really excited to try something completely different. With this opportunity as Dora, the script itself already had that wit in place — that self-aware kind of humor that was a bit meta for the world it took place in. I just wanted to make her feel like you snatched her out of the animated show and brought her into real life. I wanted to do exaggerated facial expressions like Jim Carrey or Will Ferrell.”
Another thing interesting about playing Dora was that her ethnicity was not the focus of the character. She says, “There’s just not a lot of well-rounded or multidimensional roles for people like me. Usually, my roles focus on the fact that I am Hispanic, and that’s great and all, but it would be really nice to play a role that’s written to be ethnically ambiguous. That’s what I love about Dora because you kinda forget that she’s this Latina icon in the movie.”

Isabella Moner is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. Born in Ohio on July 10th 2001, she began her career at the age of 12 when she landed a series regular role on Nickelodeon’s “100 Things to Do Before High School.” Since then, Isabella has had roles in Transformers: The Last Knight, Instant Family, and most recently the live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer.
As a singer and songwriter, Isabella has released two singles: “Dream About Me” and “Puerto Rico.” Her music is described as soulful pop with a Latin twist. She hopes to continue writing music and performing in films for years to come. It has been an amazing journey for Isabella and she can’t wait to see what the future holds!
