Martin Lawrence will air his first stand-up special in 14 years.
Fans of Martin Lawrence will have something to be excited about other than the upcoming Bad Boys 3 movie, he will be returning for a stand-up special on Showtime.
Showtime announced it would air Lawrence’s first stand-up special in 14 years since 2002’s Runteldat. According to Showtime, the special Martin Lawrence – Doin’ Time: Uncut—will feature “impressions and insights” on “everything from sex and relationships to President Obama, Bill Cosby, Hollywood and more.”
“I look forward to having my third concert film premiere on Showtime. Fourteen years is a long time between concert specials and I am excited to know that my TV audience will be able to enjoy this show as if they came to see me live,” said Lawrence in a statement.
The stand-up special was filmed in Los Angeles at Opheum Theatre during his Doin’ Time: Uncut Live tour this year, his first stand-up tour in four years.

Here’s the real reason why the camera adds 10 pounds.
Have you ever heard the saying that the camera adds 10 pounds? If you’re an actor, then you know that standing in front of the camera can make you look like you are a lot heavier than you actually are. Or, if you are a dedicated die-hard fan you may think your favorite actor is actually a huge person, but in actuality they are a lot smaller than you thought. This may explain why a lot of actors and celebrities avoid the press and refuse to watch their own movies. A short TED talk by Duncan Davidson called “Why do we hate seeing photos of ourselves” explained why many people hate to look at themselves on camera.
So why does the camera add 10 pounds? This is caused by something called distortion – exaggerated features, mainly nose and forehead, mainly due to barrel distortion. This is caused by the type of lenses photographers and filmmakers use in a movie, TV show or photo shoot.
Here’s an example.
As the camera lens focal length (mm) increases so does the appearance of an actor’s weight increase.
Basically, the closer you are to the camera, the more narrow their face will appear. When you are just inches away from your subject their nose is relatively much closer to you than their eyes and ears. The ears seem farther away, making them smaller and making the face seem narrower.
But, if an actor stands in the right position, a wide angle lens (a small mm) will make an actor look a lot thinner. However, if an actor stands in the wrong position, that same lens can make an actor look a lot heavier.

New details around actor and director Nate Parker’s involvement in a 1999 rape case has put the actor/director in hot water. However, his past transgressions are not something new in Hollywood.

Woody Allen has a long history of sexual scandal ever since he separated from Mia Farrow in 1992, and married Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn in 1997. The molestation charges reappeared during the 2014 awards season, when Dylan Farrow penned an open letter concerning the alleged molestation. Woody Allen responded back and led to a media-story. And while Woody Allen’s Oscar nominated movie Blue Jasmine didn’t win for Best Original Screenplay, Cate Blanchett did win Best Actress.
That being said, a Hollywood filmmaker does have the ability to circumvent the scrutiny of an alleged sexual assault. However, there are several distinctions between Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Nate Parker.
Woody Allen and Polanski already established themselves in Hollywood as legendary filmmakers. Allen and Polanski did not star in any of their films, so they were not the public face their films. And Nate Parker’s alleged sexual assault took place on a college campus, which is currently a hot topic since the release of the documentary The Hunting Ground – a documentary that chronicled the backlash women received after saying they were raped.

In addition, Nate Parker’s accuser attempted suicide in the aftermath of the harassment and criminal trial. She would later commit suicide by swallowing 199 sleeping pills. And most importantly, Nate Parker is black and his victim is white, a fact that divided the campus putting women’s rights groups against black student groups.
While, focusing on Nate Parker’s rape is distracting from the key themes and elements in his movie The Birth of a Nation, it is hard to deny that Nate Parker’s future in Hollywood remains is up in the air to rumors, speculation, and a 17 year old court case. And things do not long good.
According to Variety, the American Film Institute has canceled its Friday screening of Birth of a Nation, which was to also include a Q&A with Nate Parker.
“I have been the recipient of many different passionate points of view about the screening, and I believe it is essential that we discuss these issues together — messenger and message, gender, race and more — before we see the film,” Jan Schuette, the AFI Dean said. “Next week, we will be scheduling a special moderated discussion so we may explore these issues together as artists and audience.”
The Birth of a Nation hits theaters on October 7th.

John Krasinski reveals what it was like to audition for Marvel’s Captain America.
John Krasinski revealed to Conan that he auditioned for the role of Captain America, but one thing got in his way: Chris Hemsworth’s fit body.
Before Chris Evans became Captain America we all know and love, John Krasinski from The Office auditioned for the lead role. Apparently, John was always a huge fan of Captain America and even publicly admitted to join the cast of a Marvel movie. However, midway through his audition, he ran into a huge problem.
“They allowed me to put on the suit, I was on a set. It was all very interesting,” he told Conan. “I remember the only bummer was, I was putting on the suit, I was like, “This is so amazing,” and I got about right to my waist my waist, still shirtless and feeling pretty good about myself… and all of a sudden Chris Hemsworth walked by.”
That’s when things changed for John Krasinski and he realized he wasn’t cut out for the lead role.

Donald Glover reveals what it was like to work on his new TV show, Atlanta.
Donald Glover recently wrapped production for his new FX series Atlanta, in Atlanta, Georgia. Now the part-time rapper and full time actor is revealing what it was like to work on the show and the goals he wished to accomplish while working on the TV series.
Speaking with Vulture, Glover went into detail about on how this show will serve as a platform to help educate people about what it is really like to be Black in America.
“I wanted to show white people, you don’t know everything about black culture… I know it’s very easy to feel that way. Like, I get it, you can hear about the Nae Nae the day it comes out… You follow Hood Vines, and you have your one black friend and you think they teach you everything, I get it that Deshaun said that black people love … n*gga, I hate Deshaun.”
Glover also revealed what it was like pitching the TV series to executives.
An original suggestion from the network was for [Glover’s rapper/drug dealer cousin on the show] Paper Boi to live in a home as run-down and “traplike” as possible. “We were like, ‘No, he’s a drug dealer, he makes enough money to live in a regular apartment,’ ” Glover said. “There were some things so subtle and black that people had no idea what we were talking about.” One actor purposefully delivered his line in a drawl that was nearly indecipherable if you didn’t grow up in Atlanta. “After three takes, Hiro [Murai, director] took me aside and was like, ‘I don’t know what he’s saying.’ To Hiro, this n*gga is speaking patois.” Glover laughed. “That character is an artifact. Culturally, we’re becoming very homogenized. That dude isn’t going to be around in seven years. You aren’t going to be able to find him. White people are moving into Bankhead,” one of the historically blackest neighborhoods in Atlanta. Glover paused. “It’s important that dude gets represented in this show.”
Glover also discussed what it was like to film in Atlanta. He explained how filming in Atlanta was a unique opportunity, as the city is a real representation of how different the black experience can be – something the actor references a lot in his Childish Gambino songs.
It’s important to point out a large majority of the show’s cast members and writing staff were Atlanta natives. In fact, it was everyone’s first writers’ room making it clear Glover wanted to give Atlanta creatives an opportunity to showcase their talents on the big screen.

Even though Lawrence is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, . In the essay, Lawrence not only takes issue with the uneven pay scale women in Hollywood deal with but also with the fact that standing up for her self is looked upon differently than a male co-star.
Not only is Lawrence the top-paid Hollywood actress on the Forbes list, she did so as the only one under 30. According to Forbes, their numbers are based on data compiled from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo, and IMDb, as well as interviews with agents, managers, and lawyers.
In case you did not know, Georgia currently offers a film tax credit of 30% on qualified feature films. Several major motion pictures that received the luxurious tax credit include The Hunger Games, and the upcoming Passengers movie; four movies that star Jennifer Lawrence. According to reports, Jennifer Lawrence earned the top spot because she received an up-front fee for her role in the upcoming Passengers movie. Consequently, Jennifer Lawrence earns the majority of her millions of dollars for feature films she does in the Peach State.
The Zika Virus is quickly spreading North and headed towards Atlanta, Georgia.
Florida Governor Rick Soctt said Tuesday that a locally transmitted case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in Pinellas County, which includes St. Petersburg and Clearwater.
In addition, Florida has reported four more cases of the Zika Virus, just outside of South Beach. That being said, Pinellas County is over 200 miles away from Miami, where Zika poses such a big threat that the Center for Disease Countrol and Prevention (CDC) to have issued a travel warning to pregnant women. A total of 42 people have been infected with Zika in Florida since the outbreak started.
“Today, we learned that the Florida Department of Health is investigating one new individual with non-travel related Zika in Pinellas County,” Scott said. “While this investigation is ongoing, [the Department of Health] still believes that ongoing active transmissions are only occurring in the two previously identified areas in Wynwood and Miami Beach.”
The non-travel distinction is incredibly important because, as NBC notes, “if a person was infected and has had no contact with a traveler from an affected area, it strongly suggests mosquitoes locally are infected and can spread the virus.”
While, the distance from Clearwater to Atlanta is nearly 500 miles. It does seem to show that the Zika virus is quickly spreading across the United States as the virus traveled 250 miles in less than 30 days.
To add insult to injury, on Tuesday, a CNN report told the story of Micaela, one of the first babies in the United States to be born with Zika-related complications. While her mother, Maria, was repeatedly told by her physician that her Zika infection would not affect the baby’s health, Micaela was born with calcifications in her brain.

Because everything that is great in Hollywood has to become a sequel and a reboot, Ice Cube says he’s trying to make another Friday movie.
Ice Cube tweeted out a major announcement on Monday, along with a piece of art depicting the cast of the original gangster comedy in a “Last Supper” situation.

Apparently he’s already talked to New Line Cinema about making Last Friday, but only if he “can do it right.” And for many fans, doing it “right” would mean finding a way to bring Chris Tucker back to the franchise.
In case you do not know, Friday was written by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh and directed by F. Gary Gray in 1995. It became an instant classic and earned $30 million at the box office from a budget of only $3 million.
The movie’s two sequels, Next Friday, which came out in 2000, and the horribly titled Friday After Next, which was released in 2002, didn’t live up to the first movie’s expectations.

The Departed TV series based around the Oscar winning movie is currently in development at Amazon.
According to Deadline, the Oscar winning 2006 Martin Scorsese movie is getting a TV series reboot. The hit 2006 movie featured Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg and was a hit in the box office earning $290 million on a $90 million budget.
The new TV series will be written by Detroit 1-8-7 creator Jason Richman, and will be an updated version of the Scorsese movie. The new TV series will be set at present-day Chicago, in the middle of a bitter drug gang war. According to Deadline, “a young cop goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, which simultaneously plants its own man in the police department. The show follows these two embattled moles as they attempt to fulfill their mission and stay alive.”

While the network didn’t reveal much about the fourth season, the returning cast was confirmed:Tom Mison will definitely be back as fan-favorite Ichabod Crane, while Lyndie Greenwood, Lance Gross and Jessica Camacho will also be back.
