‘Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner Reveals Social Media was a “Catalyst” To Her Depression

“Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner opens up about living with depression and social media criticism.

Speaking with Dr. Phil on his podcast series, the actress discussed living with depression and how social media impacted her outlook on life while working on the hit HBO series.

The 22-year-old said she started feeling depressed when she hit puberty at 17, at which point she had been acting on the show for four years. She started receiving a lot of negative feedback on social media. “It was just a lot of weight comments,” she said, “or I would have spotty skin because I was a teenager, and that’s normal, and I used to get a lot of comments about my skin and my weight and how I wasn’t a good actress.”

Sophie Turner noted while social media was not directly the cause of her depression, it was a “catalyst”. The resulting depression manifested in a sense of self-consciousness, and lack of motivation. Turner had a time getting out of better and even thought about committing suicide. “I don’t think I viewed myself as worthy of anything that I was doing,” she admitted.

The actress has since found happiness thanks to therapy sessions and medication, along with her relationship with her fiancé Joe Jonas. “When someone tells you they love you every day,” she said, “it makes you really think about why that is and I think that makes you love yourself a bit more. So yeah, I love myself.”

As the show comes to an end, Turner has decided to take some time off and study psychology. She explains, “I’m just really passionate about it.”

About “Hombre”:

According to Deadline, Created by Jonas Cuarón, who also will direct the pilot, Hombre centers on a Mexican-American family man named Marcos Osuna who is living undocumented in the United States. When his wife Leticia is detained by ICE, Marcos, both desperate and resourceful, go to unprecedented lengths to get her back. The project is an emotional thriller about a man enmeshed in a dangerous double life, contending with powerful forces set on thwarting his unwavering desire to unite his family.

The show stars Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle). Marisé Alvarez (The Vessel), Greg Grunberg (A Star Is Born), Pepi Sonuga (Famous In Love), Adriana Santos (Taken) and newcomer Noah Reyes.

The new comedy centers around a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work — all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. McBride will star as main character Jesse Gemstone, who sees himself as a maverick in the ministry game, taking what his father, Eli Gemstone, has built and expanded it for a more modern audience. Here’s How Much A-List Actors Are Getting Paid in 2019

Hollywood actors are making a lot more money now than ever before.

In a new report from “Variety“, the highest paid actors and actress in 2019 so far for a single movie were released, and coming on top is actor Ryan Reynolds with $27 million for his upcoming Netflix film, “Six Underground.” The Michael Bay-produced film is about a billionaire-financed vigilante squad and will be arriving at the streaming platform. Meanwhile, Reynolds’ will also be playing the voice of Pikachu in Detective Pikachu which releases on May 10.

In second place are Dwayne Johnson and Robert Downey Jr who both earned $20 million. Johnson made $20 million for “Fast & Furious” spin-off “Hobbs & Shaw” and Downey for “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.” In third is Will Smith who is getting paid $17 million to reprise his role of Mike Lowery in “Bad Boys for Life”, while Johnson’s “Hobbs & Shaw” co-star Jason Statham made $13 million.

Meanwhile, Emily Blunt tops the list for women with $12 to 13 million for “A Quiet Place” sequel, while Gal Gadot will be getting $10 million for “Wonder Woman 1984”.

Barack and Michelle Obama Share Details of Upcoming Netflix Projects

Netflix has shared details of their upcoming multi-project venture with Barack and Michelle Obama.

The Higher Ground Productions announced a total of seven projects that include several scripted shows, movies, and documentaries.

In a press release, Netflix in association with Higher Ground revealed that they had acquired the rights to two films including “American Factory,” a Sundance winner that looks into the relationship with China and America’s post-industrial war, and “Crip Cramp,” a feature-length documentary about a summer camp for disabled teenagers.

A drama called “Bloom,” which is a biopic based on David W. Blight’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom,” which is a scripted anthology series based on the New York Times obituary column Overlooked. Another production is a non-fiction series based on best-selling author Michael Lewis’ “The Fifth Risk: Undoing Democracy,” and the kids’ program “Listen to Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents” have also been confirmed.
