At first, the Barnetts, known for their compassionate heart, opened their homes and hearts to Natalia. However, slowly the story began to evaluate the line between fiction and reality, ushering a remarkable turn of events. The new parents claimed that Natalia was, in reality, a grown woman posing as a child.

The revelation was as unexpected as it gets. Arguably, none could’ve seen it coming. The Barnetts who had previously embraced the role of Natalia’s guardians argued their adopted daughter was older than what her paperwork indicated. They claimed discrepancies in her dental work, pubertal development, and vocabulary that were not consistent with a child’s.
