Exciting news for fans of competitive reality shows: the legendary American Gladiators is set to make a grand return. Range Sports has signed a representation deal with Johnny Ferraro, the creator of American Gladiators, with ambitious plans to revitalize this iconic franchise.

Range Sports aims to collaborate closely with Ferraro and his partners to develop the American Gladiators intellectual property (IP) across various media platforms, including TV, film, attractions, merchandise, and live events. This collaboration is already in active development on multiple projects, all designed to introduce the American Gladiators brand to new audiences and rejuvenate its presence in contemporary sports and entertainment.

“American Gladiators is an iconic brand, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with Johnny to accelerate its growth and expansion across sports, culture, and entertainment,” said Will Funk and Greg Luckman, co-presidents of Range Sports, in a statement.

The original American Gladiators series, which aired in syndication from 1989 to 1996, featured contestants competing against elite “gladiators” in intense, made-for-TV challenges. The show was revived in 2008 as a primetime series for NBC, and earlier this year, it was rebooted by the BBC, quickly earning a second series pickup due to its popularity.

Range Media launched its Range Sports division in 2022 with a focus on producing live and on-demand original sports programming, managing and advising sports talent, properties, and IP, and investing in sports content and distribution. The revival of American Gladiators aligns perfectly with Range Sports’ mission to create and distribute engaging sports content that resonates with a broad audience.
