America’s Largest Police Union Warns Quentin Tarantino

0

The largest police union in the United States reveals they have a “surprise” for Quentin Tarantino in a statement that sounds more like a threat than a warning.

Jim Pasco, executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporterabout what they have planned for the Pulp Fiction director saying, “We’ll be opportunistic.”Pasco added, “Tarantino has made a good living out of violence and surprise,” says Pasco. “Our offices make a living trying to stop violence, but surprise is not out of the question.”

The Fraternal Order of Police has over 330,000 sworn officers and reportedly, the group has something “in the works”.

“Something is in the works, but the element of surprise is the most important element,” says Pasco. “Something could happen anytime between now and [the premiere]. And a lot of it is going to be driven by Tarantino, who is nothing if not predictable.

Quentin Tarantino released a statement as well addressing the controversy for the first time, telling the Los Angeles Times that he would not be intimidated by police boycotts.

“Instead of dealing with the incidents of police brutality that those people were bringing up, instead of examining the problem of police brutality in this country, better they single me out,” Tarantino said to The Hollywood Reporter.

“And their message is very clear. It’s to shut me down. It’s to discredit me. It is to intimidate me. It is to shut my mouth, and even more important than that, it is to send a message out to any other prominent person that might feel the need to join that side of the argument.”

This news comes as Quentin Tarantino released a new trailer for the upcoming feature film The Hateful Eight. And in less than 24 hours, the trailer has nearly a million views.

5 Pay Bumps EVERY Background Actor Should Know

0

Here are five pay bumps you should know about if you’re working as a background extra.

In every movie or TV show, some scenes include bars, parks, offices, and even street corners. Producers hire background actors to make settings look more believable.

Many of today’s A-list actors started working as a background extra. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon both started their acting career as background extras before they made their critically acclaimed movie, Good Will Hunting. Sylvester Stallone worked alongside Woody Allen before landing his first-ever speaking role. Brad Pitt also worked as a background extra before making it in Hollywood. It is a great way to make some extra cash between auditions and networking opportunities. The way to make some extra cash is with pay bumps.

Pay Bumps for Background Actors Summary:

  1. Atmosphere pay bump – $14/day
  2. Make-Up Pay Bump – $18/day
  3. Costume Pay Bump – $18 to $36/day
  4. Car Pay Bumps – .30cents/mile round trip
  5. General Props – $5.50 to $23 a prop

Background extras, background actors, are all paid for their work on a movie or TV show. However, how much the average background actor gets paid depends upon their union status, what they do, and, most importantly, pay bumps.

There are two types of background extras Union and Non-Union extras.

Background extras who are non-union tend to earn minimum wage for the state in which they perform. In 2012, the rate was $8 an hour, or $64 a day. Production companies tend to pay extras daily rates, even if they work for less than eight hours.

Productions pay Union background actors more money than non-union. Union rates for background extras, as of 2012, are about $145 per day, with weekly rates of five times the daily rate, according to Chron.com. Stand-ins make $160 a day, and actors with unique talents such as dancing, playing golf or driving a car, earn $155 a day.

But, anyone that has worked as a background extra in California will tell you, extras make the most money in pay bumps.

Here are five pay bumps every extra should know

Pay Bumps Explained

Atmosphere pay bump – $14/day

Union background extras get a pay bump when appearing as general extras and performing everyday actions. Such as getting wet, being exposed to smoke

Make-Up Pay Bump – $18/day

When makeup is applied to over 50% of your body, such as appearing as a zombie, union extras receive $18/day.

Costume Pay Bump – $18 to $36/day

When extras bring their wigs, costumes, clothing, outfits, etc. Producers pay between $18 to $36 extra a day. Also, every wardrobe change is $9 per day for the first change and $6.25 per day for each additional change.

Car Pay Bumps – .30cents/mile round trip

Cars that are used on set are paid .30cents/mile round trip plus cars earn $35, trailers earn $19, mopeds earn $15, motorcycles earn $35, police motorcycles earn $50.

General Props – $5.50 to $23 a prop

Pets, golf clubs, luggage, tennis racquets, and any other accessory allows for background extra to get a pay bump. Typically these pay bumps depend upon how large of a prop it is. For instance, a pet pay bump is $23/day, while a purse pay bump is only $5.50.

While union background extras get paid for all of these pay bumps, it is also generally assumed that non-union background extras will receive pay bumps, but at a discounted rate.

10 Actors That Are Box Office Poison

0

Box Office poison – Here are 10 actors you want to avoid when you are deciding to cast them for your next motion picture.

Despite millions of dollars in marketing, post-production, and other filmmaking scouts, the success of a movie can lay on the shoulders of the cast.

But, when a certain actor appears in a movie they can either increase box office sales or drastically hurt the movie’s earnings. If an actor appears in several movies and box office sales are constantly under expectations, then that actor can be labeled as “box office poison” – a term no actor wants to be labeled as.

Box Office poison makes actors less likely to land major roles in movies and often times these actors lose their A-list status.

These 10 actors, regardless if their films were actually any good, just seem to poison box office numbers. Ultimately, if you cast any of them in your movies, there is a pretty good chance that the movie is going to bomb in the box office.

10. Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp-1

Johnny Depp used to garunteed a great box office return. But, audiences failed to care about his latest movies. His last several movies including, The Tourist, The Lone Ranger, and Transcendence have all bombed in the box office. Making Johnny Depp more of a has-been instead of a must watch actor.

9. Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf-1

Outside of his crazy antics, Shia LaBeouf is a struggling actor trying to stay relevant. There was a point in time when LaBeouf was a popular actor. The Transformers series helped launched his status in Hollywood. But, since then every movie he lands a leading role does pretty bad in the box office.

8. Taylor Kitsch

Taylor Kitsch
Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com

It’s hard to say if Taylor Kitsch was ever an A-list actor. But, there is one thing for certain, Kitsch hasn’t had a hit movie in years. John Carter, Battleship, and Savages all bombed in the box office, failing to even break even in the box office.

7. Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl

As much as you want to love Katherine Heigl since her Grey’s Anatomy days, she hasn’t had much success in the box office. Katherine Heigl ‘The Killers,’ despite co-starring Ashton Kutcher, was a flop. Since then, only ‘Life As We Know It’ has made money.

6. Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy-1

Eddie Murphy was the go to comedian actor in Hollywood. Since Saturday Night Live, the comedian was rocking audiences with hit movies such as The Nutty Professor. But, his last movie The Adventures of Pluto Nash, bombed in the box office. In fact, his last hit movie was Shrek and that movie came out three years ago.

5. Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage
Matteo Chinellato / Shutterstock.com

Nicholas Cage has become one of the most liked actors on the Internet. If you do a quick google search of Nicolas Cage you will find hundreds of memes depicting the over top method actor. However, his last movies all bombed in the box office. Ghost Rider bombed, Drive Angry flopped, and barely anyone watched Left Behind.

4. Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig
Piotr Zajac / Shutterstock.com

Daniel Craig has not had much luck in Hollywood outside of the James Bond franchise. For example, Cowboy and Aliens was a box office disaster. The Golden Compass did poorly in the United States and I don’t know a single person that watched Defiance. Even the internationally popular book series turned into movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo failed to make a dent in the box office.

3. Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel
Helga Esteb / Shutterstock.com

Jessica Biel used to be a hit actress with a popular TV series and feature films such as ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,’ but since then every movie she appears in fails to do well in the box office. For example, ‘New Year’s Eve,’ ‘The A-Team,’ ‘Next,’ and the ‘Total Recall’ remake all flopped.

2. Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds
Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com

Ryan Reynolds was the go to Canadian actor for all of your romantic comedy and adventure flicks. But, in the last 10 years his movies failed to do well in the box office. Green Lantern, The Change-Up, R.I.P.D, and Turbo all flopped in the box office and didn’t even break even.

However, things may look up for Ryan Reynolds as he is supposed to star in the upcoming Deadpool motion picture after a viral campaign.

1. Michael Cera

Michael Cera
Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com

Michael Cera has a history of box office failures. Including Youth in Revolt, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Year One, Paper Heart, Magic Magic and Crystal Fairy didn’t do well in the box office.

It is sad to say to that Michael Cera may be the actor you want to avoid in your feature films because his long history of people not showing up to see what he can do in front of the screen.

Atlanta Woman Caring for Bobbi Kristina Brown Impersonated a Nurse at The Time of Brown’s Death

0

Woman caring for Bobbi Kristina Brown at the hospice was not a licensed nurse.

According to a police report obtained by the AP, the woman who was in charge of caring for Bobbi Kristina Brown at the hospice where she died was impersonating a nurse and face charges including nursing without a license and identity fraud.

Bobbi Kristina Brown died July 26th at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. Six months after being found unresponsive in a bath tub.

From the AP:

The case involving Sobamowo began in September, when investigators in Forsyth County began looking into her background after they received a tip raising questions about Sobamowo, who had worked at an assisted living facility, sheriff’s Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez said Tuesday.

Sobamowo faces charges of first-degree forgery, identity fraud and practicing nursing without a license in Forsyth County, Rodriguez said.

On Oct. 27, Forsyth County sheriff’s Detective Cpl. Jeffrey Roe contacted Duluth police “in reference to a high-profile case” that Duluth has some jurisdiction over, Duluth police wrote in their report.

Roe said Sobamowo had stolen the state-issued RN number of a real nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

“We had no reason to believe that she was anything other than a good nurse with proper credentials,” Homestead Hospice CEO Mallie Sharafat said in a statement. “As soon as the credentialing discrepancy was discovered by one of our employees, we immediately took action and notified the appropriate authorities.”

Nothing suggests in the AP report that Sobamowo’s care for Brown may have been affected by being an uncredited nurse. The Fulton County Medical Examiner said in December that the root cause of Brown’s death had not been determined.

Police say the Brown’s death is still under investigation.

Quentin Tarantino Speaks Out Against the Police Union Boycott: “It is to shut my mouth”

0

Quentin Tarantino finally responds to the police boycott against The Hateful Eight.

After keeping quiet for over a week and several police unions organized a boycott of all Quentin Tarantino movies, The Weinstein Co. is finally opening up on Quentin Tarantino’s comments on police brutality.

According to an exclusive statement to The Hollywood Reporter, The Weinstein company expresses their respect for the filmmaker but, shows that they do not speak for the director.

“The Weinstein Co. has a long-standing relationship and friendship with Quentin and has a tremendous amount of respect for him as a filmmaker,” a Weinstein Co. representative told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “We don’t speak for Quentin; he can and should be allowed to speak for himself.”

But, Quentin Tarantino released a statement as well addressing the controversy for the first time, telling the Los Angeles Times that he would not be intimidated by police boycotts.

It is important to point out that Quentin Tarantino wanted to let the world know that he did not call all cops “murderers”. “All cops are not murderers. I never said that. I never even implied that.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Quentin Tarantino revealed that Tarantino was receiving a ton of pressure from the studio.

Behind closed doors, sources say TWC board members have been pressuring co-founder Harvey Weinstein to clean up the mounting mess that has emerged in the wake of Tarantino calling police officers “murderers.” Sources say some on the board are fearful that the company’s upcoming Tarantino film, The Hateful Eight, will take a direct economic hit thanks to a widening police boycott of the director

This controversy all started when Tarantino attended an anti-police brutality rally in New York City on October 24th. He told the crowd, “When I see murders, I do not stand by. … I have to call a murder a murder, and I have to call the murderers the murderers.”

Since then, several police unions have boycotted all future Quentin Tarantino movies.

6 Movies that Clearly Re-Used Footage from Other Movies

0

Here are six movies that blatantly reused clips from other movies.

This is pretty amazing. Everyone knows that making a movie is expensive. You have to pay for catering, background actors, trucks, lighting, and a ton of other production equipment in order to turn an idea into a reality. That is why so many Hollywood producers are rushing to cities like Atlanta, where states provide film and tax incentives.

But, did you know that Hollywood reuses scenes from other movies in order to save money?

Transformers
Transformers (via Kinja.com)

Screen Rant came up with a list of movies that shows how movies have reused and recycled scenes from other movies.

We rare not talking about paying tribute to a particular movie, we are talking about taking footage from one movie and using it again in another movie and hoping no body would notice.

Did you ever notice that Star Wars reused a ton of the same scenes? Or Michael Bay likes to reuse the same explosions?

‘Prison Ramen’: Shia LaBeouf Reveals Jail Stories in New Book

0

Actor, Shia LaBeouf, wrote an essay about every time he was arrested.

The first time Shia LaBeouf was arrested he was only nine years old. Apparently, the aspiring actor stole a pair of sneakers.

He was arrested once again when he was eleven years old after stealing a Game Boy from Kmart.

So, Shia LaBeouf’s experience with the law is not an uncommon or new occurrence.

But, his recent public intoxication in Austin, Texas and viral videos saying he wants to kill his now ex-girlfriend, show that not much has changed in the last few years.

But, the actor wants to everyone to know his side of the story, at least his his experiences with getting arrested.

LaBeouf’s new book Prison Ramen, breaks down his recent criminal record.

“The third time I was 20, in Van Nuys, California. I tried to stab my neighbor and spent two days in jail. While I was there, I at least understood that being in jail is not the move. It sucks ass.” (Via E! online)

LaBeouf points out how jail sucks. Especially in Chicago.

“The fourth time I was in Chicago and I wouldn’t leave Walgreen’s, so I was taken to spend the night in jail. For some reason, I had the best sleep ever,” he writes. “The most recent time was 2014, when I was 28 and in New York City. I went to see the play Cabaret. I didn’t behave very well during the performance and ended up spending 25 hours or so behind bars…” (Via E! online)

Shia LaBeouf points out that his recent time behind bars he had an amazing egg sandwhich, and he adds the prison recipe in his new book.

Even though he points out how bad going to jail can be, he realized his past experiences helped make him the man who he is today.

“When I’m nervous in my creativity, I think of my failures in life and in art,” he admits. “Thinking about my screwups loosens the grip of fear. It’s freeing to f–k up and to recover.”

Despite, Shia LaBeouf’s recent hang ups with the law enforcement. Hollywood still regards LaBeouf as one of the best actors in the game. His latest feature film, Man Down, LaBeouf explained his “suicidal” acting technique.

Mickey Rourke’s Dog Saved Him From Killing Himself

Mickey Rourke reveals his dog kept him from committing suicide.

When Mickey Rourke was having a drought in his acting career the actor nearly committed suicide. But, luckily his dog was there to save his life.

Years before becoming a breakout hit in The Wrestler, during the mid-1990s, the leading man behind Diner and 9 1/2 Weeks was having a hard time. He was nominated for several Razzie Awards and had a struggling boxing career.

Recently, Rourke told reporters at the premiere of the documentary Eating Happiness, “I was going through a really rough time.” He continued, “I was hurting myself and I was sitting in the closet one day. I couldn’t take it anymore and picked up a gun.”

But, what stopped him from pulling the trigger? It was his dog.

“I was deciding what part of my head to put it on and my dog, Beau Jack, he [cried] and I looked over and he looked up at me like this and… he said [with his eyes], ‘Who’s going to look after me?’ And it made me put the gun down. I was ready to go.” (Via)

This is not the first time Rourke expressed his compassion for dogs. In a 2008 interview with The New York Times, he described his home having photos of “dogs everywhere,” including Beau Jack, the dog Rourke rescuved when he collapsed in 2002.

At the Eating Happiness premiere, the actor said, “I get along better with dogs than I do with people.”

Georgia’s Film Industry Faces Major Film Crew Shortage

0

Georgia’s growing film industry is facing a major up hill battle, as new report suggests that there is a major crew shortage.

According to the Wall Street Journal, there is a huge demand for crew workers because of the lack of qualified, trained and skilled workers and the large number of productions filming simultaneously.

According to the report, producers were asked last year about the number and quality of Georgia’s film and TV workers. About 50% of producers were unable to hire all the workers they needed to work on their productions locally.

“Every time there is volume, there is an issue of crew,” said Gideon Amir, a movie and television producer who works in Atlanta on the show “Devious Maids” and other projects. He noted that the quality of available workers doesn’t always meet producers’ standards.

Which leads to constant work for people that are qualified in the film industry, as the WSJ points out.

But, it is important to point why Hollywood is pushing for more local crew members in Atlanta, Georgia. It is all about the money.

CBS Films, hired more than 200 below-the-line workers for “The Duff” shoot. Regional demand is so high that Georgia’s training initiative will be well-received by Hollywood. “If you build it, they will come,” she said.

Union salary for crew workers is a lot higher than non-union workers. And Georgia, a Right to Work State, features hundreds of non-union workers at the producers’ disposal.

The union salary for a “grip” who works with a camera crew can start at nearly $38 an hour in California. The same position, unionized through the local chapter, pays about $26 an hour in Georgia. Taking into account union and pension contributions, labor costs for that position in Georgia are about 25% lower than in California.

But, this should not come as a surprise for those following Georgia’s film industry. Last July, during a meeting between representatives for the film and television industry told state officials that they regularly struggle to find crews in Georgia and have to hire staff from other states.

From WSBTV:

Projects have struggled to find construction crews, grip and electric teams and special effects, especially for television teams facing a deadline of only a few weeks, said Craig McNeil, production executive at NBC’s cable arm Universal Cable Productions.

McNeil is midway through shooting the first season of “Satisfaction” in Georgia and said the number of projects shooting simultaneously in the state can make it difficult to fully staff.

It is important to point out that one of the biggest producers in Georgia has even complained of the lack of qualified crew members.

David Grant, vice president of physical production for Marvel Studios, called the state’s incentive program one of, if not the best, in the U.S.

But Marvel has struggled to find the experienced and trained special effects technicians, specialty costumers and stunt team members especially important to an action hero production, Grant said.

When they can’t hire locally, crew members have to be flown in from California, he said.

“We’ve found because Georgia is so busy, some of the advantages of being here via the incentive are wiped away because of the amount of people we have to bring in,” he said.

But, Georgia reportedly has a plan to solve this issue. Georgia State University is building a new media production center in downtown Atlanta. The Savannah College of Art and Design has expanded the number of film-related courses, and the Atlanta Media Campus Studios is planning on building on-site classrooms to teach people the ins and outs of filmmaking.

‘Empire’s Co-Creator Reveals His Past Struggle with Crack Cocaine, Skipping Film School

0

Lee Daniels is a major hit in Hollywood. Ever since, The Butler, the director has turned the TV industry upside down with Empire.

Now, in a recent interview with Indiewire.com, Lee Daniels shared details about working in Hollywood. For example, Lee Daniels never went to film school.

“My experience as a filmmaker started on the sets when I was managing actors. Because I hadn’t gone to film school, I had to hustle. I managed actors in theater,” Daniels explained. “I studied ADs and I studied costumers and production designers, so I wasn’t technical with the camera, that seemed like Saturn to me, but I understood the human condition and I understood people. So that was a key. I also understood writing. So I think I learned on the way. My film school was really on the ground, with managing actors, studying great directors and then hiring directors who I was able to tell exactly what I wanted.”

In addition, Daniels reveals that getting cast on a movie or TV show of his is not a walk in the park. In fact, he argues that he pushes his actors extremely hard. “So I’m really hard on my actors, I have a terrible reputation for demanding the best from them. Because I’m hard on myself.”

But, one of the most surprising parts of the interview was the fact that he was once a crack addict.

His first movie was Monster’s Ball, the same movie that allowed for Halle Berry to win an Academy Award. Instead of attending the Academy Awards, the director was in a “dark place”.

“My first movie was ‘Monster’s Ball’ and Halle Berry won the Academy Award. And because I was still in a darker place, I was at the Chateau Marmont and I was watching her on the TV, I was crying,” Daniels said. “Then she called me and she said, ‘Big daddy, big daddy, are you coming to the Vanity Fair party?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll be there,’ and I picked up my crack pipe, I was there with a prostitute, I think, and I realized I didn’t deserve to be there.”

Whoa.

Lee Daniels also went on to explain the new series Star, a brand new show about a group of aspiring Atlanta singers interested in joining the music industry.

Daniels starts out by explaining the inspiration behind Star:

“I just wanted to do a musical. I did ‘Empire,’ but then wanted to not repeat myself, so I got this girl, the lead girl who plays Star and she’s white trash and she looks like Anna Nicole Smith and she has a voice like Amy Winehouse,” Daniels explained. “She’s that chick that you can really trust, she’s that bitch.”

Daniels continues by explaining that what he plans to do with the new series, Star.

“So it’s her and her half-sister who is black and they’re in foster care homes, they were ripped apart from their mother. But they sing and they have a dream,” he continued. “They reunite with another black girl who’s this daughter of a billionaire, but she doesn’t want any of his money. Her dad is like Lenny Kravitz had Oprah’s money. But she wants to do it on her own. So these three girls go on a road trip.”

He explains that surviving a heart attack, the HIV crisis, and making it in Hollywood makes him feel as though he is a survivor and keeps him working so hard. “I don’t get it, I really don’t get it.

So much so that I went out and did drugs to figure out why I didn’t get it. And then had a heart attack and kept going because I didn’t understand.”

Model Reveals the Dark Truth to Being Instagram Famous

Social media famous model reveals the dark side to being Instagram famous. “Social media allowed me to profit off deluding people”

Essena O’Neill, from Queensland, Australia, had over 500,000 Instagram followers and more than 250,000 YouTube subscribers when she decided to quit being a “social media celebrity”.

Essena O’Neill said she would spend over 50 hours a week answering questions on Tumblr, posting photos on Instagram, creating YouTube videos and sharing workouts. ‘Social media allowed me to profit off deluding people,’ she added.

After years of working on social media constructing a model like lifestyle, Ms. O’Nell, who will turn 19-years-old today, said she grew tired of creating an illusion her online profile.

In reality, the modeling work left her feeling empty and unfulfilled, she said.

‘Without realising, I’ve spent majority of my teenage life being addicted to social media, social approval, social status and my physical appearance. Social media, especially how I used it, isn’t real,’ she wrote.

‘It’s a system based on social approval, likes, validation in views, success in followers. It’s perfectly orchestrated self absorbed judgement.’

The teen has deleted all of her 2,000 photos from her social media account. She has also vowed to “expose the harsh” and the “reality behind the instafamous culture”

She has revealed how much she made for certain instagram photos, how much make up she was wearing during certain photo shoots, and how much she stopped eating.

In addition, she revealed she would often times purchase formal clothing even though she was not going anywhere. “‘I didn’t pay for the dress, took countless photos trying to look hot for Instagram, the formal made me feel incredibly alone”

It is important to point out that being a instagram celebrity is quite profitable. She explained that she was paid $400to post a dress, $2,000 to support for a certain tea brand.

‘Only reason we went to the beach this morning was to shoot these bikinis because the company paid me and also I looked good to society’s current standards. I was born and won the genetic lottery,’ she wrote on another.

The 18-year-old model revealed that she only posted videos and photos with the ‘sole purpose’ of getting likes and views. And now she decided she didn’t want other young girls from experiencing the same issue.

‘If you find yourself looking at “Instagram girls” and wishing your life was there’s… Realise you only see what they want,’ she wrote.

Essena O’Neil says she hopes to initiaite a movement where an person’s worth is not defined by social media or physical appearance.

HBO May Postpone Release of ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6

0

HBO may have postponed Game of Thrones season 6 to a later release date.

If you were patiently waiting for season 6 of Game of Thrones, you may have to wait a little bit longer.

Instead of the typical late March release date, the season 6 of HBO drama may not be released until late April, according to reports.

However, there is a bright side to this bad news, George R.R. Martin’s next book, The Winds of Winter, may be released before season 6 even premieres on HBO.

Game of Thrones season six began filming in July.

This news of a late release comes as reports surfaced of a possible Game of Thrones movie.

George R.R. Martin told reporters, “There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and (executive producers) DB (D.B. Weiss) and David (Benioff) are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”

‘The Shining’: Grady Sisters Were Rejected from Taking Acting Classes

The Grady sisters reveal what it was like working on set of The Shining.

The Shining is regarded as one of the scariest movies in recent history.

The Horror movie featured Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall and Danny Lloyd. The feature film helped establish Jack Nicholson and director Stanley Kubrick in Hollywood.

But, in a recent Daily Mail interview with the twins, Lisa and Louise Burns, the actors who played the Grady daughters, revealed that The Shining ruined their acting career in Hollywood.

The Burns sisters revealed that casting as Grady daughters was an accident, as Stanley Kubrick never wanted to use twin sisters. In fact, the sisters were turned down by several acting schools be cause they were in the movie.

The sisters also revealed what it was like working with Jack Nicholson.

‘Jack was a big film star at the time but he never acted like a big film star and never had any tantrums or said, “I’m too big for this”, he really never ran the fame game at all,’ said Lisa.

‘We’d see Jack acting on set and he wasn’t anything like his character in reality.

‘For Jack, it was like putting on a mask. One minute he would be completely normal and then suddenly he would be Jack Torrance.

‘Jack is a brilliant method actor who is so comfortable with his own identity that he can afford to let it wash away.’

The Grady sisters also debunked rumors about Stanley Kubrick’s treatment towards the actors on set.

In the years since The Shining was released bizarre stories about life on set have fueled rumors claiming actress Duvall was tormented so badly by Kubrick that her hair fell out and she became ill and lost weight, but Lisa and Louise disagree.

‘All those rumors were complete rubbish and totally unfounded. There’s been a theory that violence on screen meant violence on set, but we now know that is not true at all,’ says Lisa.

Today, Lisa is a lawyer and Louise is a published scientist. Since The Shining was released over 30 years ago, it has become one of the most quoted horror movies of all time, with rememberable scenes such as Jack Nicholson’s “Here’s Johnny”.
