‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ Lead Roles Worldwide Open Casting Call

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul open casting call

Does your child love Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Is your kid an aspiring actor? If so, do we have the casting call for you. 20th Century Fox is now casting the lead role for the upcoming movie based on the best-selling book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” Jeff Kinney.

Casting directors are casting for the following roles:

GREG HEFFLEY: We are seeking a bright, precocious, and appealing young actor to play age 10 – 12 for the lead role of Greg Heffley in the film version of the New York Times #1 bestseller, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul”. Actor must be able to handle dialogue and have a flair for ironic comedy – imagine Larry David in middle school…LEAD

ROWLEY JEFFERSON: 10 – 12, broader and heftier than Greg, with a heartbreakingly open, honest, sweet face. Rowley is Greg’s best friend, despite the fact that he is constantly embarrassing him with his childish demeanor. Guileless, earnest and naive, he says exactly what’s on his mind and doesn’t have a bad bone in his body.

About Diary of a Wimpy Kid:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

The series started off online on Funbrain.com in 2004 and made its print debut in April of 2007. There are now more than 150 million copies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid books available in 51 editions and 45 languages. The adventures of a teenager who is fresh out and in Middle School, where he has to learn the consequences and responsibility to survive the year.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul centers around a family road trip is supposed to be a lot of fun . . . unless, of course, you’re the Heffleys. The journey starts off full of promise, then quickly takes several wrong turns. Gas station bathrooms, crazed seagulls, a fender bender, and a runaway pig—not exactly Greg Heffley’s idea of a good time. But even the worst road trip can turn into an adventure—and this is one the Heffleys won’t soon forget.

New Lawsuit May Change the Modeling Industry Forever

0

Is the modeling industry preying and taking advantage of young models?

CNNMoney’s recent investigation, Runway Injustice, examines the fashion industry through the perspective of the models themselves and the results are pretty horrifying.

Blake Ellis and Melanie Hicken recently examined the hidden secrets behind the modeling industry and how young women are exploited. For example, the investigation showed how young models were sexually harassed, had their paychecks stolen, and charged fees and expenses that stole money from their modeling jobs. And at the end of the day, there was no one there to ask for help.

“It’s not an easy industry, you’re not going to have a nice lush lifestyle,” said Emily Fox, who started out as a model at age 16 and has appeared in Italian Vogue and walked on runways all over the world.

Now 25 years old and still working in the industry, Fox says that most years she earns less than $20,000 before taxes. “You’re going to really struggle and you’ll be really poor.”

According to the report, the fashion industry often takes advantage of models and due to a significant lack of regulation; And these abuses are completely legal.

“When you’re a supermodel like Giselle or Christy Turlington you’re treated like royalty, but 99% of models are treated like garbage,” said Carolyn Kramer, a former agency executive who compared the industry’s labor abuses to those faced by young factory workers at the turn of the century.

On top of being treated poorly, many models are working in an extremely competitive industry. As the CNNMoney investigation points out, models were more concerned with modeling agency practices than clients. Apparently, many working models earn barely enough money to survive and end up indebted to their modeling agency, which charges a 20% commission and expenses.

“Like in any industry, many models are not successful [due] to various issues, such as a lack of commitment, physical problems, or personality flaws,” said MC2, a modeling company, which said that it generally discontinues representing any New York-based model that makes less than $150,000 annually. “Just as not every actor or musician will find commercial success, not every model will be successful.”

The CNNMoney report also points out how much money fashion models are really paid – paid models earn $500 or less before commissions, taxes and expenses. While, other fashion designers compensate their models with nothing more than free clothes. That’s because agencies don’t classify models as employees, and as a result they can avoid minimum wage laws. And the amount of time spent at castings, test shoots and meetings with designers usually end up in no compensation at all.

“Most models never manage to get out of debt. Most models never make any money,” said prominent model and actress Milla Jovovich.

But, many models are fighting back. Several top modeling agencies are fighting a lawsuit that challenges these labor practices that exploits young women in the fashion industry. “The suit, proposed as a class action, alleges that the firms have unfairly profited off their models by charging exorbitant fees and expenses, incorrectly classifying them as independent contractors and withholding wages, among other allegations.” However, modeling management companies believe this is unfair arguing, “it doesn’t make sense to evoke minimum wage and overtime laws for models who can bill hundreds or even of thousands a dollar day.”

But, there are good modeling agencies that work hard to protect their models. However, a few bad modeling agencies can create a bad reputation or ruin the image of the entire fashion industry.

Heru Santoso, the spokesman for the Directorate General for Immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, said that DiCaprio used his visit to discredit the palm oil industry and the Indonesian government.

According to reports, DiCaprio, any of the landowners and/or companies that he associated himself with during his visit in Indonesia will be denied a visa the next time they try to visit the country. But, that is a small price to pay for awareness about the environmental conditions the animals and people endure in the country.

Instagram Model Reveals TRUTH behind FAKE Social Media Couples

Instagram model reveals the truth behind FAKE social media couples.

With YouTubers and social media stars making millions of dollars a year, it is pretty easy to understand why people would fake relationships in order to gain more followers. That’s why it is not really surprising to hear that many of these social media couples are actually fake. In fact, former Instagram star, Essena O’Neill alleges that some social media couples are fake. The 19-year-old former Instagram model spoke openly about her own experience on social media.

Essena O'Neill

She says she was approached by a supermodel who wanted an “online” relationship as it would increase their followers, get them free trips and make millions of dollars off of the fake relationship.

From Daily Mail:

‘He referred to other couples that had been doing it he said we’d have all this free travel and that if we became a couple we’d both bump up our followers and we could make YouTube videos and get heaps of money,’ Ms O’Neill said.

‘He said in the industry it’s not unheard of to do this that it’s actually really smart and that I should think about it seriously as a business proposal – so here I am, 18, in Thailand and this A-class supermodel wants to propose a business deal and that is an online relationship.’

Ms O’Neill said it’s ‘sad’ and that a lot of people realise their followers are a business so ‘collaborate with someone else and a relationship and get more followers.’

The unidentified man proposed the idea as a “business relationship”.

This had such an impact on her that Essena O’Neill recently quit social media calling it “dishonest”

There are several popular online couples such as YouTubers Zoella and Alfie and Jenna Marbles and Julien.

‘Empire’ Ratings Continue to Fall, ‘Episode 7’ Ratings Hits Season Low

0

Ratings for Fox’s Empire hits a season low point as fewer people care about the Lyon dynasty.

Empire has gone a long way from being the most watched new TV series. Now, Fox is struggling to find an audience as the TV series hits a season low point. According to Variety, the Fox drama Empire, may have won the battle for Wednesday night ratings, but the Cookie drama is starting to lose the war for viewers.

“Empire” averaged a 4.2 rating/13 share in adults 18-49 and 11.1 million viewers overall, down 9% (0.4) from last week in the demo to its lowest rating since the second episode of its rookie season. It still ruled its timeslot, drawing about as many young adults as the combined tallies of the timeslot’s No. 2 (ABC) and No. 3 (NBC) rated networks. Leadoff hitter “Rosewood” (1.4/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) was down just a tenth and matched its low.

Ouch.

Things don’t seem to look like they are going to get better for the TV series. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 Episode 6, “A High Hope for a Low Heaven” is the worst rated TV show ever on the review website. Currently, the episode is reviewed to a D rating of 69%. The critic consesus calls the show “”A High Hope for a Low Heaven” contains many jaw-dropping plot twists, but fails to bring its kidnapping cliffhanger to a satisfying resolution. Season 2 episode 7, is already getting bad reviews with Rolling Stone saying, “To properly enjoy the episode, you have to look for subtler pleasures – well, alright, “subtler” isn’t the right word for anything on this show, but you get the point.”

But, Rolling Stone is not alone. Just check out a few reviews from Twitter:

Hopefully, things will change for the once ground breaking TV series. Especially, if there are plans for an Empire spinoff, Star.

Aspiring Screenwriter Pays for a Full-Page Ad to Pitch ‘Die Hard’ Sequel

Aspiring screenwriter pitches ‘Die Hard’ sequel movie in a full page ad.

There is reportedly going to be a sixth Die Hard movie coming soon, which will “feature flashbacks to McClane’s days as a rough and tumble New York City cop in 1979.”

The storyline behind the upcoming Die Hard sequel has not been revealed. But, this has not stopped one aspiring screenwriter from pitching his Die Hard sequel idea.

Writer Eric D. Wilkinson wrote in a full-page ad he took out in the Hollywood Reporter pitching his own version of a Die Hard movie.

Die Hard: Year One will start out with McClane going to prison. Before audiences find out what he did, the film will flash back to the 1970s, when he accidentally lets a suspect get away. We fast-forward back to present, and while McClane is still in Russia after the pointless events of A Good Day to Die Hard, “the body of that suspect is discovered along with DNA evidence pointing to… John McClane.”

After returning to the United States, McClane is arrested and convicted of murder, at which point he is sent to a super prison of major criminals.

McClane’s wife then finds evidence that proves he didn’t do it, but when she goes to the prison to show it to him, a riot breaks out and the prison goes into lockdown. Eventually, the rioters take over the prison and capture several hostages, at which point it’s revealed the riot was part of a plan to break the terrorists out of the prison and blow up New York City. “However, the one thing [the] terrorists didn’t count on was the one man who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time…and when it comes to John McClane, old habits die hard.”

Looking for a New Job? Homeless Man Makes $200/Hour Begging for Money

0

Are you tired of your day job? Are you looking to make more money?

Well, according to a report by NYPost, a “homeless” man in New York City makes $200 an hour.

The former theater crew member apparently makes $400 in two hours by sitting on the street corner with his 9-year-old dog.

From the NYPost:

A panhandler outside Grand Central Terminal says he rakes in up to $200 an hour from kind-hearted New Yorkers.

And the 43-year-old former theater stagehand is only one of a legion of beggars in the city hauling in big bucks and a smorgasbord of food doing nothing but sitting on the sidewalk with hands out.

“On a Friday morning, I make $400 in two hours,’’ said Will Andersen, who was with his 9-year-old dog, Rizzo, on East 42nd Street between Vanderbilt and Madison avenues on Tuesday.

Apparently, this is all legal. The NYPost talked to Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and he responded by saying to stop giving people money. “I have gotten $80 or $100 from a single person. And they will say, ‘Just do something good tonight.’ They mean go to a hotel or a hostel,’’ he said. “I get people who give me five bucks each day. Five bucks each day, that’s five days a week, two people — that’s $50 a week right there. I get dog food. I put away for rent. I pay $300 a month, that’s nothing.”

Johnny Depp was Nearly Fired from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ for Acting “Drunk” or “Gay”

0

Johnny Depp was nearly fired from Pirates of the Caribbean for appearing “drunk” or “gay” while acting out scenes as Captain Jack.

After four feature films and an upcoming fifth production in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, there is no denying that Johnny Depp is the driving creative force behind the hit Disney series and without him Pirates of the Caribbean would have probably flopped in the box office.

But in a recent interview, it was revealed Disney was not that sure that Johnny Depp was the right actor the job.

During the AFI Fest 2015, Johnny Depp recalled that Disney executives were initially confused by Depp’s portrayal of Sparrow, which was partially based off the 18th century pirates and modern day rock stars and questioned if Johnny Depp should be allowed to remain as the star in the movie, or be fired.

Johnny Depp recalled the story:

“They wanted to fire me. I remember it trickled back to me that [former Diseny CEO] Michael Eisner went on some sort of vent about how, “Goddamnit, Johnny Depp’s ruining the film. What is it? What is that thing? Is it drunk? Is it gay?” So I fully expected to be fired.”

But it was how Johnny Depp responded that really shows why Johnny Depp is an A-list actor. Depp responded by saying, “Well, didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?”

It was after that comment that Johnny Depp admitted he “was really expecting to be fired,” but surprisingly he wasn’t.

After the actor told Disney to trust his acting decision and method for the character of Jack Sparrow, Disney did the right thing and left Johnny Depp to do his own thing and act however he saw fit and it worked.

Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow not only landed him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2004, but he has also earned $3.7 billion for Disney.

Production for the fifth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Johnny Depp will reprise his iconic role, as will Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom.

According to reports, the movie is currently in early stages of editing and post production.

What does a Model do?

To make a living and get paid as a model, models must work unpredictable work schedules and be ready in a moments notice to pose for a photographer or fashion line. They suffer long periods of unemployment, must attend unpaid auditions and strenuous casting sessions. In addition, models are required to travel to different locations for work.

What kind of salary does a typical model earn?

Models earn an average of $13.38 per hour, or about $27,830 per year according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Average salaries ranged from $43,840 per year on the high end but dropped to a little more than minimum wage at $15,960 per year.

What kind of training do you need?

Qualifications to earn a living as a model are minimal and it all comes down to your genetics. If you are the right height, weight, clothing size and physical appearance than you have the chance to becoming a model. No formal education is required and most models learn their skills on the job. Some training is available at modeling schools were students can learn how to pose, walk like a model, and apply make up for modeling jobs. However, models do require a portfolio of high-quality photos.

Where can you get a job as a model?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statstics, the biggest employers of models wer ecolleges, universities, and professional schools, which offered $15.06 per year. Then high schools which paid $39,610 or $19.04 for a photo shoot. Then came Home shopping networks and mail order productions which paid $28.33  per hour.

Where should you move to get a job as a model?

California currently has the highest number of jobs for models, according to Chron.com. The average pay for a model in California is about $25 per hour or $52,000 per year. Followed by Ohio and then New York City.

Should you become a model?

The number of jobs are expected to increase in the next 5 years, according to the BLS. However, due to the low number of models, this growth only actually equates to only 200 new jobs. Most of the opportunities will be in print and digital media advertising.

Competition is tough, with more models competing for fewer job openings. In addition, careers for models are short because employers are always looking for younger models.

Have you ever wanted to audition for a modeling contract with Victoria’s Secret?

Well here is an inside look at the casting process behind one of the biggest fashion lines in the world.

Sure, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the biggest events in the world featuring live musical acts, runway extravaganzas, and Angel Wings. But, we highly doubt you know the casting process behind Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The lingerie label posted a video on its YouTube page, walking viewers through its long casting process. With over 500 model applicants, the casting directors meet with hundreds of models who are hoping to land one of the 45 spots.

“I saw close to 300 in the first two days of casting, which I do on my own with my team,” says John Pfeiffer, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show casting director. “And in the two days of call-backs, I try to keep it to a maximum of 100 girls.”

But during those auditions, the casting process is a serious endeavour and a lot more nerve-wracking than you would automatically assume. Models from all over the world fight for a spot at one of the biggest fashion events in the world.

“You’re meant to be objective about it, but you know how hard all the girls have worked for it,” says Ed Razek, the show’s executive producer. “A few of them showed their emotions, but they all feel that way. Everyone of them feels that way.”

“There’s several who are either fighting back tears or literally crying in here today because there’s such a buildup, and they’ve been working for it and wanting it so badly,” adds Monica Mitro, executive producer.

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid made their Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut, joining veteran Angels Lily Aldridge, Alessandra Ambrósio, Adrianna Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel.
