The school is  a source of new talent for film and TV production and closely linked with the nearby Beijing Film Studio. It’s also the place where such directors as Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige — the ones who created arguably the most distinct new wave of filmmaking since America in the early 1970s — cut their teeth. Here, students learn all aspects of the art of storytelling and develop the ability to take audiences on emotional journeys using a wide array of cinematic skills. During their time here, our outstanding women and men learn to access this unique power by working in many forms, from traditional large-screen films to those designed for the smallest cell phone screen, to television in multiple formats.

Want to go to Film School? The American Film Institute

0

Some of the greatest filmmakers all got their start at film school; including Martin Scorsese, Lisa Cholodenko, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Darren Aronofsky.

Therefore, for some, Film School is one of the best opportunities to get their foot in the door of the entertainment industry. A film school is an educational program that is dedicated to teaching students various aspects of filmmaking, including film production, film theory, screenwriting, and media production. Courses also include Film history courses and hands on technical training.

The Hollywood Reporter recently ranked The American Film Institute  as the best film school in America. THR reported that “Among the most selective film schools in America, AFI’s Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies in Los Angeles offers a two-year conservatory program where students specialize in fields including directing, producing and writing, often coming to the institute after working in the industry or having attended other schools. Its “fellows” are typically more mature (average age is 27) and benefit from speakers and teachers drawn from the highest levels of the industry, supported by the full weight of AFI itself.”

Furthermore, The American Film Institute draws a strong comparison to its cross town competitors, UCLA and USC. But, it is clear from the the sheer greatness of the graduating talent how exceptional The American Film Insitute Film School program develops their students.

The American Film Institute is an independent non profit organization that was first established in 1967 after President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act.

Programs
AFI DIRECTING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN

The American Film Institute provides a directing workshop for women. Since 1974, the American Film Institute provides a tuition free training workshop and opportunity to direct a short film, which in turn has launched the careers of many working directors. Currently, the amount of working female directors is only 7% in film and 11% in television. The AFI boasts on their website that they produce 25% of working professional directing credits since their establishment.

Marvel Comics Internship

Marvel Comics have defined generations for years. From the amazing full feature films, to the action packed comic books, Marvel Comics is defining and changing the entertainment industry in multiple ways.

Marvel Comics was originally named Marvel Publishing, Inc and was recently purchased in 2009 by Walt Disney COmpany for nearly 4.24 billion dollars. But, it was not all glitz and glamour. Marvel started in 1939 as Timely Publications, and by the 1950s they changed their name to Atlas Comics. But, what led the way for Marvel Comics domination was started in 1961 when the company unleashed the legendary Fantastic Four and other super hero titles such as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and others.

There are a ton of well known characters that were created by Marvel. Charcters including Spider-man, the X-men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Daredevel. Criminals and antagonists such as the Green Goblin, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Galactus, and the Red Skull. Most of Marvel’s fictional characters operate in a single reality known as the Marvel Universe, with locations that mirror real-life cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Marvel Comics and its major, longtime competitor DC Comics together shared over 80% of the American comic-book market in 2008.

One of the biggest opportunities available to individuals interested in the entertainment industry is Marvel’s Internship Program.

‘Zombieland TV’ Series Finds Lead Roles and is Still Casting Various Roles

0

Casting directors are now casting for the upcoming TV series “Zombieland”.

Reports for the “ZombieLand” TV Series started from screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick back in Fall 2011, but since then the lack of updates has led everyone to believe that the show was scrapped. That changed earlier this week. CBS reported to have sent out casting calls for the pilot and iO9 has claimed to have read through the script pages that are being used for casting prupose (meaning they may or may not reflect what to expect in the actual pilot). But, Screen Rant recently reported what to expect in the Zombieland TV Series. “they offer an intriguing early look at how the Zombieland TV show may go above re-inventing the original movie’s characters, seeing how cast members Woody Harrelson (as Tallahassee), Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus), Emma Stone (Wichita) and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock) are pretty much guaranteed not to be reprising their roles.”

Here are the characters based upon the TV Show pilot:

Tallahassee is still kind of a snarky weirdo, but he seems to have a much less spiky relationship with Columbus. He and Columbus have a pretty amusing thing where they riff on the fact that Steven Seagal movies always have three-word titles like “Marked for Justice” or “May Cause Diarrhea.” But Tallahassee also dispenses homespun wisdom about how to feel happy with your life. He also tells a weird story about being in a trailer park with a perpetually nude Matthew McConaughey. He also has a somewhat heartwarming scene where he tells Columbus that he’s been wandering aimlessly for a long time, but maybe he’s been put here for a reason — to help Columbus and the others.

Columbus is much the same, except that he tracks down his grandma and grandpa (Bubbie and Peepaw) only to find them recently zombiefied. Also, Columbus is trying to deal with his newfound relationship with Wichita, after their first kiss. He has started calling her “Krista,” her real name — but there are some problems, especially after she finds him reading a book about fatherhood. He tries to organize a romantic scavenger hunt for her in the IKEA they’re camping out in, but it goes kind of horribly.

Wichita is still trying to look after Little Rock, trying to teach her math with problems about someone stealing from a liquor store and jumping on a train going 42 miles per hour, with a cop chasing in a car going 88 miles per hour. We also learn a lot more about Wichita’s backstory, including how she ran away from her father after he had her stealing people’s Christmas presents — and later, she found out she had a sister who was also being a grifter with her dad.

Little Rock seems actually kind of excited about meeting Columbus’ grandparents, before they turn out to be zombies. And she shares some of her own backstory, about how her dad parked her at a school while he went off grifting on his own — and then yanked her out of school right before a dance that she was looking forward to (ScreenRant).

It is expected that new characters will be planned to join the cast, but the main concept behind the show ill follow the bonds and relationship between Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock. The original Zombieland has grossed 102 million dollars on a 24 million dollar budget.

Recently, IGN announced that “Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives, Switched at Birth) has been cast as the female lead in Amazon Studios’ Zombieland TV pilot, based on the popular feature film.” The actress joins Tyler Ross (Milkshake) and Izabela Vidovic (Homefront), who will portray Columbus and Little Rock, respectively. All that remains now is Tallahassee, whose snakeskin leather boots were previously filled by Woody Harrelson. (IGN)

Now Casting Directors are casting for various roles for the upcoming TV Series.

Based upon a recent Facebook annoucement, Marinella Casting will be the company hiring extras, standins and most likely zombies for the new TV series “ZombieLand” . We plan to update you with any and all casting developments. Subscribe to our newsletter today for more casting information.

Pepsi Commercial Casting Call

Casting Calls in Miami

Casting directors are currently casting for an upcoming Pepsi Commercial in Miami, Florida.

Pepsi has become a voice for a generation. Created and developed in 1893 and introduced as Brad’s Drink, it was renamed as Pepsi-Cola on August 28, 1898, then to Pepsi in 1961.During the Great Depression, Pepsi gained popularity following the introduction in 1936 of a 12-ounce bottle.

With a radio advertising campaign featuring the jingle “Pepsi-Cola hits the spot / Twelve full ounces, that’s a lot / Twice as much for a nickel, too / Pepsi-Cola is the drink for you”, arranged in such a way that the jinglenever ends. Pepsi encouraged price-watching consumers to switch, obliquely referring to the Coca-Cola standard of 6.5 ounces per bottle for the price of five cents (a nickel), instead of the 12 ounces Pepsi sold at the same price. Coming at a time of economic crisis, the campaign succeeded in boosting Pepsi’s status. From 1936 to 1938, Pepsi-Cola’s profits doubled (Wiki).

Now Pepsi has become a voice of Today!. This is an opportunity for you to gain exposure, make connections, and build a resume to expand your career in the entertainment industry.
