Scarlett Johansson takes acting to a whole new level in the new movie Under the Skin.
Director Jonathan Glazer (Birth, Sexy Beast) took a different approach to making the feature film. He shot the film guerrilla style in different parts of Scotland using up to eight cameras at the same time.
But, what was really intriguing was that Glazer asked Scarlett Johansson to pick up real hitchhikers in a van, and Glazer later confirmed that many scenes had to be cut when many of the non-actors Johannson picked up wouldn’t sign a release form.
Now Scarlet Johansson recently spoke about picking up random guys in her van, and The Daily Mail interviewed one of the guys about it.
Johansson tells The Guardian:
A remarkable aspect of Under the Skin is that a lot of the people who appear in it aren’t actors. They’re normal people – who happen to be walking down a road minding their own business when a pretty lady pulls up in a van alongside them and offers them a lift to Tesco and then a film crew clutching disclaimers leaps out of the back.
At what point did Glazer tell you: “Oh yes, by the way, Scarlett, we haven’t really got any other actors. We’re just going to cruise the streets and find them”? “That happened later on. And none of us knew how it was going to work. We toyed with lots of different things like prosthetics, teeth, all kinds of things that would change my face but only slightly, when in fact there was no need to do any of that.”
So, no one would really believe that Scarlett Johansson would actually pick up anyone in a van.
The Daily Mail talked to one of the guys Johansson picked up, the newly-single father of two Kevin McAliden.
“What man wouldn’t think, ‘Wow,’ when a good-looking woman has just pulled up in a van. […] She said: ‘Are you single? What are you doing tonight?’ I thought, ‘Yes! This is unbelievable!’ I’d been having quite a tough time in my personal life, so this was like a lucky break. I should have known it was too good to be true.”
Kevin was “stunned” when he got out of the van and was approached by a crew member. “The man said: ‘Do you know who that was who brought you home? Scarlett Johansson.’ I knew instantly it was the truth. It all fell into place. Afterwards, when I told my family and friends, they accused me of being nuts. But I had the last laugh when they saw the film trailer.”
Here’s a clip of one of the non-actors Johansson picked up in her van. It is not the guy interviewed above but, it is an interesting look at how the movie was produced.
But, to market the feature film, the producers have chosen a unique way to reach their audience, Craigslist.

Casting directors are looking for actors to work on an upcoming Kaplan University Commercial Casting Call filming in Miami, Florida.
Miami Talent Casting is currently looking to cast a 4 different actors for roles in an upcoming Kaplan University commercial. This is a non-union production and filming is scheduled for early April. But, auditions will start March 20th and will end on March 30th.

Season four of American Horror Story is starting to begin and writers have figured out where they want to take this horror series to next.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming season of the FX anthology will focus on a “carnival theme”.
Showrunner Ryan Murphy announced that season four will take place in the 1950s. It is also the final season for the star Jessica Lange. Additional castings hav enot yet been made or announced.
The “carnival” theme would follow AHS‘ Murder House, Asylum and Coven runs and debut in October on FX.

Two big feature films were released this weekend including Aaron Paul’s ‘Need for Speed’ and Tyler Perry’s ‘Single Mom’s Club’.
Dreamworks really wanted ‘Need for Speed’ to be a box office success.
It would be the production company’s first franchise feature film since leaving Paramount. Unfortunately, it did not work out that way and Need for Speed made it to third place behind Mr. Peabody and 300: Rise of an Empire.
Playing at 3,118 locations, Need for Speed opened in third place with an estimated $17.8 million. That’s a somewhat disappointing start: it’s lower than the worst Fast & Furious movie (Tokyo Drift, $24 million), and is roughly on par with past video game adaptations Resident Evil ($17.7 million) and Max Payne ($17.6 million). That being said, Need for Speed did really well in China where it made more money than the United States debut. In China the feature film made $21.2 million. In total Need for Speed made $45.6 million dollars in overseas box office totals, probably enough to make a profit off of the expensive feature film.
The Box Office was a lot kinder to Aaron Paul than it was to Tyler Perry. After an announcement from Lionsgate, ‘Single Mom’s Club’ will be the last Tyler Perry and Lionsgate production together and unfortunately for Mr. Perry it did not do very well. ‘Single Mom’s Club’ bombed with $8.3 million making it the worst movie Tyler Perry ever released. Previously Daddy’s Little Girls held the record with $11.2 million.
Comedian Ari Teman at first thought he was being robbed, but it ended up being worse than he thought.
Ari Teman said he was stunned to discover that a man who rented his Manhattan apartment on AirBnB used it for a XXX Freak Fest. The most embarrassing part was he was not even invited.
The comedian told the New York Daily News that his home was ransacked and his belongings were ruined by a ‘BBW Painty Raid Party’. A man identified as David rented the apartment for the night for $300 and charged guests $20 to attend.
The apartment share website agreed to reimburse him over $23,000 to cover the damages and they are putting him up in a hotel until he finds a new place to live.
“David” told teman that he needed a place to stay whe he was in town for a friend’s wedding. But, when Teman stopped by later, he found something way more interesting. “There was a huge posse of large men and women in hip-hop attire looking like they got tossed from a club, hanging out in front,” he told the newspaper. He also said another “half-dozen people” moved his furniture and tossed it carelessly outside.
He tweeted to the company, “You sent an ‘XXX Sex Fest’ into my apt. $67K+ in damages. Call me now. Fix this today. Had to call NYPD. Emailed you.”
He later added: “Aside from an illegal orgy destroying my apartment, it was a lovely weekend.”
