NBC’s Alternative Directors Program is Now Accepting Submissions

Date:

NBC’s The Alternative Directors Program is back.

The goal of the program is to provide a platform to provide representation behind the camera in unscripted programming. As NBC describes the program, it is intended for “female and ethnically diverse talent, the program will give directors the opportunity to shadow over several weeks on NBC and Universal Television Alternative Studios unscripted series including prep, production, and post.”

The Alternative Directors Program is one of the tentpole initiatives within the NBC Talent Infusion Programs (NBC TIPS) that promotes and encourages people of diverse backgrounds.

Submissions open on Monday, May 5th and will close on Friday, June 7th. To apply you will need to submit a letter of recommendation, resume detailing directing experience, bio, two short essay question, samples of work and a letter of recommendations.

The previous students in the inaugural class were extended an opportunity to direct segments on the shows on which they shadowed. They helmed segments that are airing during the 2018-19 season. The graduates included Madeline Fuste (Hollywood Game Night), Sharon Everitt (World of Dance), Annetta Marion (Making It), Cari Townsend (American Ninja Warrior) and Lizz Zanin (America’s Got Talent).

Finalists will be notified Late Summer 2019.
