Overview and Responsibilities:

KTVT-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas-Fort Worth is seeking a multi-platform managing editor! This manager role embraces and champions the vision and strategic plan for content on all screens. This person will handle day of story development and response as well as planning out coverage for news events in the coming days and weeks.

This position manages daily content acquisition and delivery for multiple platforms with overall responsibility for the station’s daily news gathering. You will also oversee short and long-term planning and ensure acquired content is mirrored on-air and online. This role is charged with development of story ideas with an emphasis on strong storytelling. The person in this role runs the editorial meetings and signs off on stories. The managing editor stays in contact with crews throughout the day and takes the lead in coverage response during breaking news.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Run editorial meetings
  • Communicate with reporters through-out the day
  • Copy edit content
  • Scheduling of anchors and reporters
  • Long-term and short-term news planning
  • Communicate daily with the EPIC EP, Digital, and Special Projects on story planning
  • Carry out the strategic plan put forward by the VP of News

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism
  • Preferred 3 years management experience

  • Understanding of multiplatform strategies
