Job Description: ESPN is seeking a reliable and physically capable Parabolic Microphone Operator to capture live sound during the California vs Auburn football game at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, AL. This role is integral to providing viewers with the authentic sounds of the game, ensuring an immersive broadcast experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate a wired parabolic microphone dish to capture the sounds of the game on the field.
- Move along the sideline or endline, closely following the game’s action and directing the microphone toward the play.
- Maintain focus on the game to ensure that the microphone consistently captures high-quality audio.
- Collaborate with the broadcast crew to meet the audio needs of the production.
- Stand and move for extended periods, adjusting as necessary to keep up with the game’s pace.
- Be prepared to work in outdoor conditions, which may include varying weather.
Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and able to stand and move for long periods during the game.
- A basic understanding of football is required to effectively follow the game and position the microphone.
- Prior experience with parabolic microphone operation is a plus but not mandatory.
