Seeking the following roles:

A1656: – She is female/female-identifying and can play 15-17 years old.
– She is White and Jewish. Warm, funny, whip-smart.
– She has a presence. You know she’s in the room.
– Strong singing is a plus-NOT musical theatre. More folk-y/ethereal singing.
– Familiarity with conversational ASL is a MAJOR plus.

BERNIE: She is female/female-identifying, mid-late teens. Deaf. Studious, watchful,
intense. Protective of THE BOY. A survivor.

Actors need not be members of Equity. Actor must be a local NYC Hire

Julius Caesar Stage Production Casting Call

Job Description:
A Brooklyn outdoor theater production is now casting equity and non-equity actors for Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. This Shakespeare casting call is open to performers of all genders, with most tracks involving doubling. The production will take place in Carroll Park and is seeking bold, vocally strong actors ready to perform in an outdoor environment without sound amplification.

This is a paid theater opportunity offering a stipend for the showcase run. Actors with classical training, strong text clarity, and musical abilities are encouraged to submit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform in a live outdoor production of Julius Caesar

  • Memorize and deliver Shakespearean text with clarity and confidence

  • Participate in rehearsals and collaborate with the ensemble

  • Adapt performance for an outdoor setting without amplification

  • Potentially double in multiple roles

Requirements:

  • Equity and non-equity actors

  • Open to all genders and backgrounds

  • Strong vocal projection and command of Shakespearean language

  • Ability to perform outdoors

  • Submit a 1–2 minute Shakespearean monologue

  • Include headshot and resume

  • If applicable, submit a video of musical instrument performance

Available Roles:

  • Brutus – Noble, idealistic, conflicted

  • Cassius – Passionate, intellectual, political

  • Mark Antony – Charismatic, strategic

  • Julius Caesar – Grand, commanding presence

  • Casca – Wry, sharp, comedic instincts

  • Portia – Willful, incisive, emotionally complex

  • Octavius – Strategic, unsentimental

  • Decius – Perceptive, improvisational

  • Cicero – Stately, authoritative

  • Conspirators, Generals, Plebeians, Soldiers

Compensation:

  • $2,000 stipend

  • Live theater credit

  • Professional outdoor Shakespeare experience
