Calling all artists! Join us for an in-person open call in NYC or submit to our virtual open call for the second national tour of TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, hitting the road across North America in fall 2024. We are actively seeking talented actors for the roles of TINA TURNER, IKE TURNER, ZELMA BULLOCK, RICHARD BULLOCK, GRAN GEORGEANNA, and YOUNG ANNA MAE.

Our in-person open call will be held on June 28th in New York, NY, with sign-in at 9 am. Virtual open call submissions are due by 11 pm ET on the same day. Please advise to either attend the in-person call or submit to the virtual call, but not both.

Seeking:
[TINA TURNER] Female identifying character, 30s, Black. The “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, she rose to prominence as the lead singer of the husband-wife duo Ike & Tina Turner before launching a successful career as a solo performer. The piece spans through Tina’s life and focuses on Tina’s introduction into the music industry with Ike Turner and the years of physical abuse she endured during her marriage to Ike, and how she transformed her life and rebuilt her career after divorcing him. Seeking a charismatic leading actor with star quality, an excellent and versatile singing voice in the style of Tina Turner, with wide range and huge amounts of vocal stamina. Must be able to move very well. PRINCIPAL.
[IKE TURNER/RONNIE TURNER] Male identifying character, early 30s. Black. American musician, bandleader, songwriter, record producer, talent scout, and Tina Turner’s first husband. Charismatic, a showman, but also has a dangerous, vicious streak. Manipulative. Often high on drugs; prone to sudden bouts of violence. Will also play: RONNIE: Tina and Ike’s only son. Seeking a leading actor with a solid baritone singing voice. PRINCIPAL.
[ZELMA BULLOCK] Female identifying character, 40s-50s, Black. Tina’s mother. Finds it difficult to be maternal. Had an abusive relationship with Tina’s father. Tough, detached, cruel. Develops a close relationship with Ike. Resents Tina and had an estranged relationship with her. Seeking a leading actor with a powerful alto singing voice. PRINCIPAL.
[RICHARD BULLOCK] Male identifying character, late 30s-early 40s. Black. Anna Mae’s (Tina’s) Father and Zelma’s husband. A Preacher. Full of passion, fire and spirit. Has a violent, fiery relationship with Zelma and inflicts physical abuse. Seeking a strong actor with a powerful tenor singing voice, and excellent movement skills. FEATURED ENSEMBLE.
[GRAN GEORGEANNA] Female identifying character, 60s, Black. Tina’s Grandmother. She’s more Tina’s mother than Zelma has ever been. Supportive and ever present. A little slower physically but still very sharp. Seeking a strong character actor with a resonant alto singing voice. PRINCIPAL.
[ANNA MAE BULLOCK/YOUNG CRAIG TURNER] Female identifying character, 9-11 years old, Black. Young Tina Turner. Must have a big, powerful belt in her vocal arsenal, along with good acting skills. Will also play: YOUNG CRAIG: Tina’s youngest son. PRINCIPAL.

Femme-Presenting Performers for Paid Fall Theater Production
Job Description
A powerful and emotionally resonant full-length theater production is casting femme-presenting actors who can play ages 19–20 for a four-week run in Brooklyn. The play explores complex themes surrounding identity, belonging, and the psychological pressures young women face in pursuit of perfection. Performances will take place at the Makers Ensemble Makers’ Space with a Thursday–Sunday schedule. This is a non-equity production offering both guaranteed pay and profit-sharing.
