A medical documentary is casting real individuals and families across Australia to share personal experiences of searching for a diagnosis for a rare or genetic medical condition. The documentary explores the often lengthy period between first seeking answers and finally receiving a diagnosis, including how developments such as DNA sequencing and AI could potentially support faster diagnosis. The production is looking for authentic patient and family stories from people who are currently seeking a genetic medical diagnosis, have experienced a particularly long diagnostic journey, or have undergone DNA sequencing in an effort to receive answers.

Job Responsibilities

• Share your real-life diagnostic journey on camera for the documentary.
• Speak openly about the experience of seeking answers for a rare or genetic medical condition.
• Participate authentically in documentary filming and interviews.
• Work with the production team to communicate your personal or family story.

Requirements

• Open to people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
• Must currently be seeking a genetic medical diagnosis, have experienced a lengthy diagnostic process, or have undergone DNA sequencing in pursuit of a diagnosis.
• Must be willing and comfortable sharing your diagnostic journey.
• Individuals and families are encouraged to apply.
• Must genuinely want to tell your story and contribute to the documentary.

Compensation

• Participation is unpaid.
• Flights, accommodation, ground transfers, and relevant production expenses are covered.
• Production may travel to selected participants, or filming may take place in Sydney.

Nick Hamon Casting and @swag.film are seeking Melbourne-based teens aged 17–19 for a paid short documentary exploring the experiences of young people today. This opportunity is open to all genders, with no acting experience necessary. The production aims to feature real people willing to talk about their lives on camera.

Job Responsibilities:

• Be comfortable speaking about yourself on camera.
