Ana Dawson Casting are looking for a 8-10 years old Scottish boy for BFI/Screen Scotland funded short film ‘Just Jackie’
We are looking for a confident, fun little boy who loves performing/dancing and would be in his element around the dessing up box!
The film is a body positive story of a boy of a bigger build so we welcome those of a larger shape of size to apply.

An independent, artistic children’s fantasy feature film is now casting a child and two parent roles for a story rooted in imagination, warmth, and adventure. This character-driven project explores family bonds, curiosity, and the quiet magic of childhood through grounded, cinematic storytelling. The production is seeking expressive performers who are comfortable with subtle, emotionally present performances.
Job Responsibilities

Portray emotionally grounded family characters in a story-led feature film

Follow direction while delivering natural, intimate performances

Participate in character-focused scenes emphasizing imagination and family connection

Work collaboratively with fellow cast members and the creative team
Requirements

Child role: Any gender, any ethnicity, playing age 10–14; confident, kind, curious, and adventurous

Father role: Male performer, playing age 30s–40s; gentle, emotionally present, sensitive, and loving

Mother role: Female performer, playing age 30s–40s; warm, nurturing, confident, and energetic

Irish heritage welcome for parent roles but not required

Actors who are parents encouraged but not required

Comfortable with calm, grounded acting styles
