We are a NYC based casting company

We are currently casting fluent Vietnamese speakers for various supporting roles for the HBO / A24 television series The Sympathizer, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen.

The show is directed by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, The Little Drummer Girl).

The project is slated to shoot Nov 2022 – May 2023 in Los Angeles, CA and Asia.

We are currently seeking talent for the following roles.  No prior acting experience necessary.  Talent can be based anywhere in the United States.  If you think you fit any of the descriptions below, please submit yourself for consideration.  Please fill out the form below and instructions on how to submit your audition/interview videos.

Women Mid 70s-80s:  Adorable, elderly grandmother. Petite, doting and loving. Is outwardly emotional, and having a hard time with her new life in America. Brings some HUMOR to her performance and the audience, has a comic likability. MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE.
 
Người Bà (độ tuổi 75-85): Vai một bà nội/ngoại dễ mến. Dáng người nhỏ, phúc hậu, đầy tình thương. Biểu cảm rõ rệt, hiện gặp khó khăn thích nghi với cuộc sống ở Hoa Kỳ. Có khiếu HÀI HƯỚC, tạo niềm vui cho người xem. Phải biết nói tiếng Việt lưu loát.
 
Women Mid 50s-70: A rich Vietnamese woman. Shocked and upset at the unsanitary conditions in Guam. MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE.
 
Quý Bà (độ tuổi 55-70): Một người phụ nữ giàu có. Có phản ứng mạnh, khó chịu và sốc với các điều kiện kém vệ sinh trong trại ở Guam.  Phải biết nói tiếng Việt lưu loát.
 
Women 30s: Loving wife and fierce protector of her children. MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE.

Phụ nữ độ tuổi 30-40: đóng vai một người vợ đáng yêu và một người mẹ luôn hết sức bảo bọc con cái. Phải biết nói tiếng Việt lưu loát.

Women 40s-50s:  Commanding matriarch. Wealthy, graceful, Intelligent and pragmatic. MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE AND SOME ENGLISH.

Phụ nữ độ tuổi trên dưới 50: đóng vai một mệnh phụ giàu có, duyên dáng, thông minh và thực dụng. Phải nói tiếng Việt lưu loát và biết chút ít tiếng Anh.

Men 30s-50s:  Various supporting soldier roles. MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE.

Seeking a Pacific Islander male actor to portray Joseph, an 18–early 20s student at a college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. This role involves scripted violence and requires a strong, authentic presence on camera.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray a student in a true crime recreation scene

  • Communicate on camera using ASL (as required by production)

  • Follow direction for scripted dramatic action

  • Maintain professionalism and continuity throughout filming

Requirements

  • Pacific Islander male, 18+ (late teens to early 20s look)

  • Tall, pep-pacific islander vibe; dark hair and dark eyes

  • ASL experience encouraged (include experience in submission)

  • Comfortable with scripted violence/sensitive content

Job Description
Seeking a white male actor to portray Ben, an 18–early 20s student who attends a well-known college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. This role includes being found deceased in a dorm room scene and requires comfort with staged stillness on camera.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray a true crime recreation role in dorm-room scenes

  • Follow direction for staged stillness and positioning on set

  • Communicate on camera using ASL (as required by production)

  • Maintain a professional attitude during sensitive story content

Requirements

  • White male, 18+ (late teens to early 20s look)

  • Full build preferred

  • Short, military-style haircut

  • ASL experience preferred (include experience in submission)

  • Must be comfortable lying on the ground under blankets for the scene

  • Comfortable with scripted violence/sensitive content

Eric (Victim) – ASL Fluent Role

Job Description
Seeking a white male actor to portray Eric, an 18–early 20s college-aged student. Eric is a deaf gay man with cerebral palsy. This role requires fluency in ASL and includes scripted violence where the character is shoved.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray a true crime recreation victim role on camera

  • Communicate fully in ASL for all on-camera conversations

  • Follow direction for scripted dramatic action, including physical staging

  • Maintain professionalism in emotionally sensitive reenactment scenes

Requirements

  • White male, late teens to early 20s (18+)

  • Short build/short height preferred

  • Fluent in ASL

  • Comfortable portraying a deaf character with cerebral palsy

Black Male Stand-In for TV Series

Job Description
A television production is seeking a Black male stand-in to match an on-camera actor for lighting and camera setup. This role is ideal for talent who can stay focused during technical work, maintain consistency, and commit to a long set day. Production needs someone with a similar complexion and hair color to the referenced actor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Stand in for principal talent during lighting, blocking, and camera rehearsals

  • Follow direction from the assistant directors, camera, and lighting teams

  • Maintain consistency with marks and positioning across takes
