Metro.co.uk, a division of Associated Newspapers Limited, is looking for freelance social producers to join the London team to help deliver news, features, sport, opinion and video to a fast-growing global audience.Â
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a social media team and have an interest in politics, current affairs and showbiz, as well as an appreciation of the media landscape.Â
This role requires experience and knowledge of every major social platform but most importantly demands enthusiasm and a positive can-do attitude. You should be passionate about online and have an engaging and witty writing style.
We are a creative, dynamic social team used to transforming our industry-leading on-site editorial into digestible multimedia content suitable for multiple audiences on multiple platforms.Â

Key requirements:
- Ability to spot a story and having the confidence to relay that to the wider team
- Be the person who brings brilliant, original ideas to the table
- Build memorable off-site communities
- Help to build and evolve our unique voice across our social output
- Understand where journalism, social, community management and digital content is heading
- Experience of creating engaging social posts and managing social accounts
- Familiarity with crafting engaging Instagram and Facebook stories
- Interest in new platforms and formats
- Ability to source video and be keen to plan video projects
- An interest in analytics is preferred

Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of social media, community management and of growing and engaging audiences
- Experience of work for a publication (please provide link in your cover letter/CV)
- A track record of community engagement and seeding to create loyal audiences Â
- Understanding of the UK Editors’ Code of Practice, media and copyright law
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment with flexibility to work unsociable hours as and when required
