Casting Call for Feature Film
Synopsis:
Set in the late 1990s, this feature film follows eight-year-old Sasha and her Hungarian immigrant family as they adjust to life in a new home on Vancouver Island. The family’s hope for a fresh start is challenged by the behavioural issues of Sasha’s older brother Jeremy, which lead to growing turmoil. Reaching a critical juncture, Sasha’s mother seeks assistance from a social worker. In a twist of fate, the adult Sasha becomes the caseworker assigned to her family’s past case.
Roles Open for Casting:
FELIX (Principal Role)
- Gender: Male
- Age: Appears 8-10 years
- Ethnicity: Hungarian or European origin (appearance-wise); no accent required
- Character Traits: Felix is an enthusiastic and curious child, particularly fascinated by bugs and musical instruments. He is passionate and vocal about his interests, often engaging family members with his discoveries. He enjoys finding small creatures and objects outdoors to bring home. Felix is also known for his tendency to show off to his older brothers. He has a resemblance to his second oldest brother Henry, characterized by long brown hair in a bowl cut, big brown eyes, and gentle facial features.
- Additional Requirements: The performer may be required to appear in swimwear.
Job Responsibilities:
- Portray the character of Felix according to the director’s vision and script requirements.
- Participate in rehearsals as scheduled.
- Work collaboratively with other cast members and the production team.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to set protocols.
Requirements:
- Must be a Vancouver local (non-union).
- Experience in acting is preferred but not necessary; enthusiasm and fit for the role are critical.
- Must be available for the duration of the shooting schedule.
- Must be comfortable working in front of a camera and able to follow direction well.
- Comfortable wearing swimwear in scenes if required.
Compensation:
- Principal role (Felix): $250 per day.
- Compensation is paid daily and includes payment for any potential rehearsals.
