Synopsis: “Rutka: A New Musical” is an indie-rock musical making its world premiere. Job Description: We are seeking a talented actress to play the role of Tusia, an energetic and complex character, who oscillates between gossipy confidence and genuine admiration for Rutka, her friend. The actress will need to embody a youthful spirit and convey complex emotional dynamics through both acting and song.
Responsibilities:
- Portray the character of Tusia, including singing and acting in line with the director’s vision.
- Participate in rehearsals as scheduled, contributing to a collaborative and respectful working environment.
- Engage with the production team to develop a deep understanding of the character and historical context.
- Perform in all scheduled performances of the musical, maintaining high standards of professionalism and performance quality.
Requirements:
- 18+ to play a character aged 14-16.
- Strong vocal ability with a preference for folk/indie rock singing styles. Must be able to mix/belt to C/D.
- Excellent acting skills; prior stage experience in musical theatre preferred.
- Ability to portray depth and nuance in a character who experiences a range of emotions and development.
- Open to ALL ethnicities. We aim to cast reflecting diversity in race, gender identification, and background.
- Must be available for the duration of rehearsals and performances as scheduled.
Compensation:
- Weekly salary of $1,100 minimum, in line with LORT guidelines.
- Additional benefits including health insurance and travel allowance may be available, subject to negotiation.
