Synopsis:
“Rutka: A New Musical” is an indie-rock musical making its world premiere in Cincinnati. Set in 1943 in a Jewish ghetto in war-torn Poland, the musical follows Rutka, a teenage girl navigating the trials of adolescence—friendship, gossip, a new haircut, and first love—all chronicled in her diary amidst the backdrop of an oppressive world. Based on the true story and diary of Rutka Laskier, this musical explores themes of hope, resilience, and resistance in the face of unimaginable challenges.
Role Description – MICKA:
- Age: 18+ to play 14/15
- Gender: Female
- Ethnicity: Jewish (All ethnicities welcomed and encouraged to audition)
- Character Traits: Micka is Rutka’s mischievous and spirited friend. She is slightly more concerned with popularity and fitting in compared to Rutka. Enjoys gossip and has a playful relationship with Rutka, often encouraging her in romantic pursuits. Micka’s character is crucial in adding lightness and contrast to the narrative’s heavier themes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform the role of Micka in accordance with the director’s vision.
- Participate in all scheduled rehearsals and performances.
- Collaborate with the cast and crew to develop a cohesive and compelling story.

Requirements:
