Synopsis:
Rutka: A New Musical is an unforgettable indie-rock musical making its world premiere in Cincinnati. Set in 1943 war-torn Poland, the narrative centers around Rutka, a teenager living in a Jewish Ghetto. Her life, filled with the everyday concerns of teen angst—friendships, gossip, a new haircut, and the first flickers of love—are captured in her diary. Amidst the backdrop of a world far from normal, Rutka and her friends navigate their uncertain futures with hope, resilience, and resistance. Based on the real diary entries from Rutka Laskier’s “Rutka’s Notebook,” this compelling historical drama brings a powerful story of perseverance and humanity.

Requirements:

  • Strong singing skills with the ability to perform in a folk/indie rock style. Women should be able to mix/belt to C/D, and men should be able to reach at least a G.
  • Previous acting experience in theater, film, or television preferred.
  • Ability to portray a range of emotions and connect with audiences.
  • Commitment to the entire run of the production, including all rehearsals and performances.

Compensation Details:

  • $1,100 per week minimum, based on LORT salary guidelines.
  • Additional benefits including potential bonuses, travel allowances, and housing for the duration of the production run may be discussed upon casting.
