Job Description

The MR Casting, LLC is casting non-union actors for ABIKU, a Columbia MFA thesis short film combining horror and supernatural drama. The story centers on 12-year-old Rayana, who begins seeing a terrifying creature during a crowded family gathering. The production is casting multiple lead and supporting roles, primarily seeking Black performers ranging from children to adults in their 70s. Roles include Rayana, her siblings Zion and Paul, Paul’s girlfriend Estelle, and several members of the extended family. Piano experience is preferred for Rayana. Applicants must be local hires in New York City or New Jersey. Underage applicants for Rayana and Zion must provide additional information regarding age, work permit status, and school schedule.

Job Responsibilities

• Portray an assigned lead or supporting character in the short film.
• Perform scripted dramatic and supernatural/horror scenes.
• Collaborate with the director and production team throughout filming.
• Perform stunt work or wear required eye makeup when applicable to the role.

Requirements

• Rayana – Lead: Black female, age 12; strong emotional range. Piano experience preferred.
• Zion – Lead: Black male, age 14; witty and mischievous with strong sibling chemistry.
• Paul – Lead: Black male, age 19; stunt work and eye makeup required.
• Estelle – Lead: Black female, age 21; stunt work required.
• Uncle Braxton – Supporting: Black male, age 54.
• Grandma – Supporting: Black female, 70s; must be comfortable with eye makeup.
• Uncles – Supporting: Black male performers, 40s–50s; seeking 4–5 performers comfortable with eye makeup.
• Aunties – Supporting: Black female performers, 40s–50s; seeking 4–5 performers comfortable with eye makeup.
• Mom – Supporting: Black female, 40s; must be comfortable with eye makeup.
• Dad – Supporting: Black male, 40s–50s; must be comfortable with eye makeup.
• Must be a local hire in New York City or New Jersey.
• Rayana and Zion submissions must include current age, work permit status, and school schedule.

Non-Speaking Families & Couples for Airline Cabin Production

Job Description
A non-union airline cabin production is seeking experienced actors with authentic, real-life relationships for a filmed project. Casting is looking for two families (one parent with two children) and additional real couples, friends, or partners who can bring natural chemistry to non-speaking scenes set inside an airplane cabin. This is a paid opportunity for Chicago-based talent who can work locally without travel or accommodations provided.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform in non-speaking airline cabin scenes with natural, believable reactions

• Work comfortably in a tight, airplane-style set environment

• Follow direction from the director and production team during filming

• Maintain continuity and realistic relationship dynamics across multiple takes

Requirements

• Must be based in Chicago, IL (local hire only; no travel/accommodations provided)

• Experienced actors with authentic relationships encouraged to apply

• Families needed: 1 parent with 2 children (kids ages 5–7)

• Additional talent: real romantic couples, friends, or partners

• Must be comfortable performing non-speaking roles on camera

To be considered for submissions, you must be locally hired to San Francisco, CA. Please note all Covid-19 safety procedures will be followed during filming.
