Job Description

A 60-minute scripted courtroom drama presented as a live trial experience is now casting one Principal Actor and two Understudies for an interactive theatrical production. The audience serves as the jury, and performances feature alternate endings based on the verdict delivered each night.

This non-union production is seeking strong, professional performers with stage presence and the ability to engage audiences in a high-energy, immersive format. Actors must be able to work locally and maintain ongoing availability throughout the 2026 performance season.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray assigned courtroom characters in a scripted live production

  • Deliver consistent, compelling performances in an interactive audience setting

  • Participate in rehearsals and performance runs

  • Adapt performance based on audience engagement and alternate scripted endings

  • Maintain professionalism during touring and multi-city performances

  • Understudies must be prepared to step into principal roles as needed

Requirements

  • Non-Equity actors

  • Strong memorization skills and courtroom-style performance ability

  • Comfortable performing in front of live, interactive audiences

  • Reliable, punctual, and available for rehearsals and scheduled performances

  • Understudies must be prepared to cover principal roles if called upon

  • Continuing availability throughout 2026 preferred

Compensation Details

  • Rehearsals: $18 per hour

  • Principal Actor: $340 per show day

  • Understudy (Chicago performances): $100 per show day

  • Understudy (Detroit hold rate): $50 to hold the day

  • If an Understudy performs, compensation increases to $340 per show day

  • Travel (for Detroit performances): Flights, per diem, hotels, and transportation covered

  • Understudies will not travel

Seeking two male understudies for The Jury Experience, a 60-minute scripted play presented as a live courtroom trial. In this immersive theatrical production, the audience serves as the jury, and the performance features alternate endings based on the jury’s verdict.

Each understudy will cover two roles within one script—either Death on the Port Side or Death by AI. This is a paid opportunity for non-AEA actors with local availability and flexibility for additional show dates throughout the season.

Job Responsibilities

  • Cover two roles within the selected script as an understudy

  • Attend rehearsals and pickup rehearsals as scheduled

  • Be fully prepared to step into performances when called upon

  • Maintain strong memorization, character development, and courtroom-style delivery

  • Collaborate professionally with cast and creative team

Requirements

  • Male actors (ages and ethnicities open)

  • Non-AEA performers

  • Strong stage presence and ability to perform in an interactive live setting

  • Reliable availability for rehearsals and scheduled performances

  • Submit headshot, resume, and reel (if applicable)

Compensation

  • Rehearsals: $18 per hour

  • Show Rate: $80 per show day (inclusive of any day-of rehearsals at the venue)

  • If called to perform, show rate increases to $340 per show day
