Job Description
The indie short film What They Don’t Say on the Floor is now casting for multiple roles. This coming-of-age drama follows Jade, a dedicated young cheerleader struggling under the weight of perfection, family expectations, and self-doubt. Created by an all-female crew and creative team, the film explores burnout, resilience, and redefining self-worth beyond achievement.

Production is seeking performers for lead, supporting, and background roles. Cheer experience is required for several roles.

Character Breakdown

Teen Jade (Lead)
Female, 18+ to play 17, African American.
A talented and driven high school senior cheerleader who sacrifices everything for the sport. Begins to question her identity and worth. Cheer experience required (multiple shoot days).

Jade’s Mom (Supporting)
Female, 40+, African American or Mixed descent.
A complex, loving mother who pushes her daughter to excel. (One shoot day)

Becca (Supporting)
Female, 18+ to play 17, any race/ethnicity.
Jade’s teammate. Competitive and direct. Cheer experience required. (One line – multiple scenes)

Teammate 1
Any gender, 18+ to play 17, any race/ethnicity.
Cheer squad member. Cheer experience required. (One line – multiple scenes)

Teammate 2
Any gender, 18+ to play 17, any race/ethnicity.
Questions Jade’s ability to carry the team. Cheer experience required. (One line – multiple scenes)

Background Cheerleaders
18+ to play younger, any gender, any race.
Tumbling and/or stunting experience preferred. (Minimum 2 shoot days + 1 rehearsal day)

Job Responsibilities

  • Submit self-tape audition via provided Google Form

  • Attend callbacks via Zoom (if selected)

  • Participate in rehearsal (for cheer roles)

  • Perform scripted dramatic material

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ to apply

  • Cheer experience required for applicable roles

  • Submit slate and skills clip for cheer roles

  • Ability to self-tape and meet submission deadline
