Job Description
A powerful new feature film is casting a teenage boy of Syrian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, or Iraqi heritage to portray a deeply emotional and nuanced lead role. The story centers on Ali Naser, a 16-year-old refugee navigating life in the UK after surviving trauma and wrongful imprisonment in Syria. This role calls for a talented young actor who can carry both emotional weight and subtle comedic timing.

Ali is quiet, emotionally reserved, and navigating an unfamiliar world, but beneath that silence lies sharp wit, sensitivity, and inherited trauma. When a racially charged incident disrupts his new school life, he is thrust into the spotlight in unexpected ways.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform as the lead character, delivering emotionally grounded and nuanced scenes

• Depict the cultural and emotional complexity of a displaced teen adapting to life in a new country

• Work closely with directors to bring both vulnerability and strength to the screen

• Deliver lines fluently in Arabic and English

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older (or 17 with appropriate licensing)

• Able to believably portray a 16-year-old

• Must be fluent in both Arabic and English

• Must be of Syrian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, or Iraqi heritage

• Should be emotionally expressive and capable of handling dramatic content

• Previous acting experience is a plus but not required if the performance is strong

Susie

• 8 – 12 to play 8 to 10 years old, US accent
• (4/6 episodes)
• Sassy, snooty girl scout Susie is the epitome of Yuppie Larvae (the child of middle-class parents with white collar jobs and a sense of entitlement). Invincible and superior to anyone and everyone else because her dad will totally sue your dad. Convinced everyone wants to hear her opinion, she overly confident and her array of insults ready to be flung at any unsuspecting victim that crosses her path, is something to be admired. Veruca Salt meets Erica from Stranger Things. A fun role for a brilliant and spirited young actress.

Filming in the UK from April – June 2023.
