Job Description

A new character-driven stage play, Skyhook, is casting three actors for its upcoming festival production premiering at the 2026 Toronto Fringe Festival. This access-focused production explores friendship, pride, and reinvention through the unlikely bond between an aging pilot and a retired pirate at a gambling resort.

The production is seeking versatile, dynamic performers (18+, any gender) for principal roles in this non-union theatrical production. Rehearsals will take place in New York City, with performances scheduled in Toronto, Canada.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray one of the principal characters in a character-driven stage production

  • Collaborate closely with the director and creative team to develop layered, compelling performances

  • Participate in weekly rehearsals in NYC

  • Travel internationally for festival performances in Toronto

  • Perform consistently and professionally throughout the festival run

  • For select roles, perform dual characters as written in the script

Roles

SKY – A pilot and top local aviator. Fatigued rule-following perfectionist. (Doubles as Dr. Claude)

HOOK – A fisher-turned pirate. Deceptive, difficult player.

KINGSLEY – A know-it-all live table dealer who moonlights as a magician. (Doubles as Drapes)

DR. CLAUDE – A dogmatic lecturer and father to Sky. (Doubled by Sky actor)

DRAPES – An authoritative table game floor supervisor to Kingsley. (Doubled by Kingsley actor)

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Open to all genders

  • Strong stage acting skills and comfort with character-driven material

  • Ability to rehearse in New York City

  • Availability for travel and performances in Toronto, Canada

  • Must be able to commit to a non-union production

Compensation Details

  • Non-union production

  • Actors will receive stipends (amount to be determined)

  • International travel provided

  • Accommodations provided during Toronto performances
