Casting Call – How To Be A Zombie

Job Description
A satirical zombie comedy short film is seeking talented actors and crew to join an exciting, non-union production. The story follows a seasoned zombie who struggles to train two curious newborn zombies, blending slapstick humor, surrealism, and over-the-top comedic elements. This is an outdoor, on-location shoot with a fun, highly collaborative atmosphere—perfect for performers looking to grow their craft and build their reel.

Job Responsibilities (Actors)

  • Bring comedic timing, energy, and improvisation to character roles

  • Work comfortably with safe, unloaded prop firearms under supervision

  • Follow direction closely while maintaining character in physical comedy scenes

  • Engage in playful interactions, classroom-style scenes, and zombie training sequences

Requirements (Actors)

  • All roles open to various ethnicities and genders

  • Age range: 20s–40s depending on role

  • Overenthusiastic, playful demeanor with a childlike sense of wonder

  • Comfortable participating in action sequences and comedic physicality

  • Must follow all safety protocols with prop firearms under certified armorer guidance

Compensation (Actors)

  • Unpaid; copy of film, footage for reel, meals/snacks, and credit provided

  • Possible assistance with travel or accommodations depending on circumstances

Crew Positions Needed

  • Cinematographer / Camera Operator: Operate professional video camera, capture outdoor scenes, assist as clapper loader

  • Sound Designer: Provide clean sound and vocal audio, assist with end credits music

  • Gaffer: Manage outdoor lighting in daytime forest locations

  • Makeup Artist / Hair Stylist: Create undead looks for zombies and maintain continuity throughout filming

  • Script Supervisor: Ensure continuity in actor positions, props, and dialogue; assist as clapper loader

  • Editor: Collaborate on final vision, assemble footage into polished scenes
