Casting Call: Short Film “Like a Baby” (St. Pete/Clearwater/Tampa)

Job Description
A heartfelt short film titled Like a Baby is now casting in the St. Petersburg, Florida area. This 15-minute coming-of-age drama follows a young woman’s emotional journey through heartbreak as she rediscovers love and finds peace within herself. Directed by Ling Zhang and Lindy Becklund, this film will be released on YouTube and submitted to several festivals, including ICFF.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform assigned roles authentically and emotionally in alignment with the film’s vision

• Participate in rehearsals, filming sessions, and direction from the creative team

• Collaborate with other cast members to bring the story’s emotional depth to life

Requirements

• Must be available for filming during one weekend (Dec 6–7, 2025) in St. Pete/Clearwater

• Non-union talent only

• Must submit a headshot, reel, and email introduction

• Open to in-person or online auditions

Available Roles

• Narrator (40–55, Female): Warm, witty, and whimsical. Tone similar to Mary Alice Young from Desperate Housewives.

• God’s Voice/Arms (50–60, Male): Slow, calm, and grounded voice. Face not shown; voice and arms only.

• Baby (Female, under 2): Expressive baby able to display a variety of emotions from laughter to frustration.

• Lily (25–35, Female, Lead): Sweet, sensitive corporate worker navigating heartbreak and rediscovering strength.

• Micah (25–35, Male): Lily’s ex-boyfriend. Neat, masculine, and pragmatic, with limited physical scenes.

• Susanna (40–55, Female): Lily’s friend and devout Christian with natural warmth and guidance.

• Kayden (20–25, Female): Creative, quirky, and whimsical with an upbeat personality.

• Hope (25–35, Female): Tall, classy, and spirited independent woman.

• Michelle (Female, 25–35): Lily’s boss, efficient, confident, and mentoring.
