Job Description
A non-union student short film titled Mascot is casting actors and background talent in the Los Angeles/Westchester area. The comedy follows Aaron, an ambitious young sports broadcaster trying to redeem himself after covering a 37U flag football game, only to find himself increasingly frustrated by a relentless and unpredictable mascot. The production is casting four featured roles, including Aaron, his co-host Trey, supervisor June, and mascot Benny. Additional performers are also needed as flag football players, coaches, a referee, announcer, show runner, and crowd extras.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray assigned characters in a comedy-driven student short film.
- Perform scripted scenes while following direction from the filmmaking team.
- Lead actors should bring the personality and comedic dynamics of their respective characters to life.
- Background performers will help create the atmosphere of a flag football game and sports broadcast environment.
- The performer playing Benny must be comfortable wearing a mascot costume.
Requirements
- Aaron: Black man, mid-20s. Ambitious, talented, and defensive. A rising sports broadcaster desperate to redeem himself after a humiliating demotion.
- Trey: Black man, mid-20s. Goofy, underrated, and competitive. Aaron’s laid-back co-host whose increasing professionalism creates unexpected competition.
- June: Black woman, late 20s to 30s. Composed, demanding, and observant. Aaron’s supervisor who pushes him toward success while questioning whether he can handle the pressure.
- Benny: Any age. Must be willing to wear a mascot costume. An unpredictable, silent, and provocative mascot whose antics repeatedly challenge Aaron.
- Flag Football Players: Ages 30+.
- Additional Background Roles: Two coaches, referee, announcer, show runner, and crowd extras of any age.
- Must be able to work in the Los Angeles/Westchester area.
