Job Description
A Los Angeles-area production is hiring creative writers for a fictionalized true-crime series based on a real story. The project blends suspense, mystery, faith, comedy, clever dialogue, and emotionally grounded storytelling. Selected writers will collaborate in an in-person writers’ room to develop the season structure, characters, reveals, cliffhangers, and individual episodes. The series is expected to include approximately 10 episodes running 45–50 minutes each, with selected writers contributing to 1–3 episodes.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop compelling crime, mystery, and true-crime-inspired storylines.
- Write sharp, believable dialogue with strong comedic instincts.
- Explore themes of faith, danger, healing, and justice with sincerity.
- Break the underlying story into season and episode beats.
- Develop character arcs, twists, reveals, and cliffhangers.
- Collaborate with other writers on assigned episode sections.
- Refine dialogue and scenes across assigned episodes.
- Help protect identities and make appropriate story changes for legal and storytelling considerations.
- Complete assigned episodes within approximately five weeks.
Requirements
- Must be available for four required all-day, in-person Writers’ Room sessions in Duarte, California.
- Strong writing ability in crime, mystery, or true-crime-inspired storytelling.
- Ability to write faith-based material with authenticity and sincerity.
- Strong comedic and dialogue-writing skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced writers’ room.
Compensation
- $300 per selected episode.
- $150 paid upfront and $150 upon delivery.
- Selected writers are expected to write 1–3 episodes.
