Job Description:
Gazebo Theatre Company is casting a range of roles across their Theatre in Education & Community Programmes. We are looking for talented actors for three distinct productions: “A Sense of Belonging,” “Presents from the Past,” and the “Community Christmas Show.” This is an open casting call for current and future roles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform in theatre productions as per the assigned roles.
- Engage in rehearsals and performances with professionalism and dedication.
- Work collaboratively with directors, cast members, and production teams.
- Participate in educational and community outreach activities as part of the Theatre in Education programmes.
Requirements:
Ideal Candidates:
- Professional experience in facilitation and Theatre in Education (TIE).
- Full clean driving license (desirable but not essential).
- An enhanced DBS will be required for all roles (can be applied for through Gazebo).
Role-specific Requirements:
- “A Sense of Belonging” (7th Oct – 1st Nov 24):
- Young man, playing age 18-25, gang leader, charming, manipulative.
- Young woman, playing age 15-16.
- West Midlands accents.
- “Presents from the Past” (3rd Feb – 7th Mar 25, with possibility of extension):
- 3 actors, any gender, any playing age.
- Actor 1: from Benin and ancient Greece.
- Actor 2: from Iron Age Britain & ancient Greece.
- Actor 3: a modern-day museum curator.
- “Community Christmas Show” (11th Nov – 13th Dec 24):
- 2 professional actors & community cast.
- Man playing age 65+, Black Country accent.
Compensation Details:
- Rate: ITC rate of pay – Currently £573 per week, for both rehearsal & performance weeks.
- Actors will need a local base. Priority will be given to actors based in the West Midlands, in line with our commitment to employing local artists. Accommodation costs are not covered.
