Lead and Supporting Roles for “Bursting at the Fold” Feature Film

Job Description
An upcoming feature film, Bursting at the Fold, is now casting lead and supporting roles for a New York City shoot. This heartfelt story follows two boys fighting to save their favorite Chinatown dumpling shop when it’s forced to close, highlighting friendship, family, and community.

Production is seeking East Asian talent for multiple principal roles. Lead roles are paid, while select supporting roles are unpaid and offer copy, meals, credit, and transportation reimbursement. Filming will take place in NYC over scheduled shoot dates in April.

This is a meaningful opportunity for young actors and seasoned performers alike to be part of a culturally rich, character-driven film project.

Job Responsibilities

• Portray principal or supporting characters in a feature film

• Deliver emotionally grounded, character-driven performances

• Participate in scheduled NYC filming dates

• Collaborate with the director and production team

• For youth roles, work closely with guardians and adhere to set regulations

Requirements

Ian Kang – Lead Role (Paid)

• Male, ages 9–12

• East Asian (Korean preferred)

• Korean-speaking preferred

• Able to portray a lonely but eager-to-belong character

Henry Luo – Lead Role (Paid)

• Male, ages 10–13

• East Asian (Cantonese Chinese preferred)

• Cantonese or Mandarin-speaking preferred

• Able to portray a proud, loyal, and stubborn character

Keith Chung – Supporting Role (Unpaid)

• Male, ages 50–65

• East Asian (Cantonese Chinese preferred)

• Cantonese or Mandarin-speaking preferred

• Portrays a longtime dumpling shop owner

Jongho Kim – Supporting Role (Unpaid)

• Male, ages 20–30

• East Asian (Korean preferred)

• Korean-speaking preferred

• Portrays a conflicted young worker adjusting to life in NYC
