Principal Roles Casting Call – ACTRA Short Film “Bloom”

Job Description:
An ACTRA Low Budget Tier 4 short film titled Bloom is now casting three principal performers in Toronto/GTA. This psychological drama follows a young woman battling anxiety whose search for peace spirals into an unsettling and transformative journey.

The production will film in Etobicoke, Toronto and will include exterior and night shoots. Some scenes involve intimacy, and a professional intimacy coordinator will be provided. GTA locals who are self-driving are strongly preferred. All roles are paid and credited under ACTRA LBG Tier 4 guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Portray a principal character in a dramatic short film

• Perform emotionally layered and character-driven scenes

• Participate in exterior and night shoots

• Attend rehearsals (TBC) and scheduled shoot days

• Follow direction closely in intimate or high-intensity scenes

Requirements:

Amy (Principal Role 1)

• Female, 25–30

• Open ethnicity, brunette

• Strong emotional depth and vulnerability

• Must wear contact lenses

• Intimate scene work required

Russel (Principal Role 2)

• Male, 25–30

• Open ethnicity, clean-cut

• Valid G Class driver’s license required (driving scenes)

• Intimate scene work required

Holly (Principal Role 3)

• Female, 25–30

• Person of color

• Charismatic, perceptive presence

• Must wear contact lenses

Additional Requirements for All Roles:

• ACTRA eligible (Full, Apprentice, AABP; non-union may apply where eligible)

• Strong dramatic on-camera ability

• Comfortable working in emotionally intense scenes

• GTA local preferred; self-driving ideal

Compensation:

• ACTRA LBG Tier 4 principal performer rates (2025–27)

• $204 for 8 hours ($25.50/hr)

• Overtime at $38.25/hr

• Paid and credited short film roles
