Job Description

An upcoming feature film is assembling a production crew for the The Back Nine, a character-driven golf comedy set within the competitive world of amateur tournament play. The story explores the high-pressure environment of amateur golf, where egos are big, patience runs thin, and one bad swing can change everything.

Writer and director Rob Mabry, known for The Legend of El Chupacabra, is building a passionate Texas-based production team for a summer shoot. The production is seeking both experienced and emerging crew members who are interested in collaborating on a fast-paced, well-organized independent film project.

Job Responsibilities

Crew members will contribute to various aspects of production depending on the department selected. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with daily film production tasks within the assigned department.

  • Collaborating with the director, producers, and department leads.

  • Supporting production logistics and maintaining an efficient workflow on set.

  • Helping maintain professional production standards during filming.

  • Assisting with creative and technical elements required for a feature film shoot.

Requirements

The production is seeking crew members for the following departments:

  • Assistant Directors

  • Camera Department (ACs, Camera Operators, DIT)

  • Grip & Electric

  • Production Sound

  • Art Department / Set Dressing

  • Hair & Makeup

  • Wardrobe

  • Script Supervisor

  • Production Assistants

  • Behind-the-Scenes Photo/Video

  • Social Media Manager

Additional qualifications include:

  • Ability to work collaboratively on an independent film production.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and creative environment.

  • Ability to work on location at a physically demanding setting such as a golf course.

  • Film set experience is a plus, but passionate individuals willing to learn are encouraged to apply.

  • Must be able to work locally in San Antonio, Texas.

Compensation

This is an independent production. Final compensation will depend on crowdfunding and sponsorship funding currently underway.

  • Practical golf knowledge is a plus

Ed Jacobs (Supporting | 40s–60s | Any Ethnicity)

  • Corporate compliance officer with an intelligent and procedural mindset

  • Quietly fatalistic with dry wit

  • Minimalist performance style with strong stillness and subtle delivery

Additional Requirements

  • Professional acting experience preferred

  • Ability to perform grounded, restrained comedy

  • Must be able to work as a local hire

Compensation

  • Paid roles

  • Rates targeting SAG Ultra Low Budget–equivalent levels

  • Contracts finalized prior to principal photography
