Casting Actors for Live Script Reading at Austin Film Festival

Job Description:
Ashley Guaragna Casting is seeking talented actors to participate in a live script reading of a horror script at ColdTowne Theater. This is an exciting opportunity to bring characters to life in front of an audience, with writers and directors present. A mandatory rehearsal with the creative team will be held before the live reading.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform a live reading of assigned character roles in front of an audience.
  • Collaborate with writers and directors during the rehearsal to bring authenticity to the script.
  • Engage the audience with a strong, dynamic performance.

Requirements:

  • Actors of various ages to fill the following roles:
    • Rosie (30s, Latina): A nanny in nursing school and mother of a seven-year-old daughter.
    • Lupita (7, Latina): Adorable and innocent.
    • Julie (Mid 40s): Put-together but emotionally chaotic.
    • Ted (Mid 40s): Living out a midlife crisis.
    • Sophie (14): Teenager with dyed hair rebelling against her parents.
    • TJ (10): Annoying younger brother.
    • Aunt Cheryl (60s–80s): Quirky and kind antique shop owner.
    • Cliff (Early 40s): Sleazy brother to Ted.
    • Jill (Late 30s): Sultry and confident wife of Cliff.
  • Strong reading and performance skills.
  • Availability for both the rehearsal and the live reading.

Compensation Details:

  • Actors will receive Austin Film Festival badges or film passes based on the number of live readings they complete:
    • 1 reading = 1 free Film Pass.
    • 2 readings = 1 free Lone Star Badge.
    • 3 readings = 1 free Weekend Badge.
    • 4 readings = 1 free Conference Badge.
    • 5 readings = 1 free Producers Badge.
  • Participation will also qualify actors for a Film Pass to AFF 2025.

Casting Call: Animated PSA for Underage Tobacco Use

Job Description:
Johnson Media Co. is seeking actors for an animated public service announcement (PSA) addressing underage tobacco use. This project requires actors to serve as references for animation, capturing body language and expressions to ensure realistic animation. No dialogue will be involved.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical movements and expressions as directed to serve as references for animators.
  • Collaborate with the director to accurately portray the characters’ emotions and actions.
  • Maintain professionalism and punctuality during the shoot.

Requirements:

  • Father Role:
    • Male, Hispanic
    • Age: 40-50
  • Teenage Son Role:
    • Male, Hispanic
    • Age: 15-19
  • Location: Must be able to work locally in Richmond, TX.
  • Union Status: Non-union actors only.

Compensation:

  • Rate: $100 for 1 hour of work.

Casting Call: Actor for “Everyday Texas Hero Campaign” PSA

Job Description: Johnson Media Co. is seeking a dedicated actor for a PSA focusing on the consequences of underage tobacco use and the requirements for retailers when selling tobacco. The selected actor will serve as a reference for animation in this impactful campaign.

Role:

  • Father

    • Male

    • Latino or White

    • Age 50s to early 60s

    • Short hair, brown or black

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character of a father in the PSA.

  • Provide reference poses and expressions for animation.

  • Follow the director’s instructions to deliver the required performance.

  • Maintain professionalism and punctuality on set.

Requirements:

  • Must be a male, Latino or White, aged 50s to early 60s.

  • Should have short hair, brown or black.

  • Prior acting experience preferred but not mandatory.

  • Must be available for the entire duration of the shoot on July 15 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.

Compensation Details:

  • Rate: $150 for 3 hours of work.

  • Usage: Web/Digital (social media, paid ads, in-house/client website, digital use of still photos). No cable/network broadcast at this time.

  • Run: 2 years for paid ads with the option to extend another 2 years for an additional fee. In-perpetuity for use on the client website/YouTube only.
