We are seeking a young East Asian male actor, aged 11-14, to portray Yan Bo Lin, a lead character in the upcoming feature film “CRAMMING”. This is a paid role under SAG-AFTRA low-budget scale, with approximately 5 weeks of filming in New York City. The film follows the lives of two eighth graders navigating academic pressures, friendship, and family expectations.

Character Description – Yan Bo Lin:
Yan Bo Lin is a 13/14-year-old East Asian boy, outwardly relaxed and whip-smart, with a strong focus on using his natural talents and intelligence to succeed. However, he faces intense internal pressure to meet his parents’ high expectations. Yan is a gamer at heart and often prefers to escape to his virtual world rather than tackle real-life challenges. He struggles to balance his desire for independence with his need to live up to his family’s standards, especially in the face of growing academic pressure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character of Yan Bo Lin, delivering a nuanced performance that captures his internal conflict between living up to family expectations and pursuing his personal interests.
  • Collaborate closely with the director and cast to bring the story to life, showing Yan’s emotional depth and his relationship with Alex Chavez, his friend and classmate.
  • Handle emotionally charged scenes dealing with themes of ambition, parental pressure, and academic competition.

We are casting a young Latino/Hispanic male actor, aged 11-14, for the lead role of Alex Chavez in the upcoming feature film “CRAMMING”. This is a paid SAG-AFTRA low-budget scale role that will film for approximately 5 weeks in New York City. “CRAMMING” is a coming-of-age story about two eighth graders navigating academic pressure, family expectations, and friendship challenges.

Character Description – Alex Chavez:
Alex is a 13/14-year-old boy, the oldest son of working-class Latino parents. He is studious, reserved, and deeply committed to succeeding academically to make his family proud and earn a scholarship to a prestigious private high school. Despite his hard work and determination, Alex faces intense pressure and, after being accused of cheating, struggles to maintain his composure, which threatens to unravel everything he has worked for.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character of Alex Chavez, capturing his internal struggle with academic pressures, family responsibilities, and the challenges of growing up.
  • Deliver a powerful, emotionally driven performance, navigating complex themes of friendship, ambition, and integrity.
