Job Details: We are seeking talented individuals to fill various roles for an upcoming short film project shooting in Los Angeles. Job Responsibilities:

  1. Non-Binary Person – “Carter” We are looking for a non-binary individual to portray the role of “Carter.” The character is multi-dimensional and plays a pivotal role in the storyline. As Carter, you must bring depth and authenticity to the character’s emotions and experiences.

  2. Heavily Tattooed Male (Aged 30-50) We are searching for a heavily tattooed male of any ethnicity, aged 30 to 50, to bring a unique presence to the screen. The character’s tattoos will be a part of the character’s identity, adding to the visual storytelling.

  3. Skateboarding White Male (Aged 18-25) This role calls for an energetic white male aged 18 to 25 with excellent skateboarding skills. You will embody the character’s spirit and showcase your skateboarding talent as an integral aspect of the story.

  4. African American and Asian Boys (Aged 8-16) We are looking for young talents aged 8 to 16 from African American and Asian backgrounds. These roles require portraying authentic emotions and interactions within the context of the film.

RUSH STANDS IN THE CASTING CALL

We’re seeking a stand-in for a rush casting assignment with specific physical attributes. This individual will be a stand-in for an African American actor for a commercial shoot. The role requires someone who closely matches the following specifications:

Job Detail: Carla Hool Casting seeks talented actors for an upcoming Short Film Project. This casting call is open to Los Angeles local hires only.

Job Responsibilities: The selected actor will portray the character of [Norma Peña], a 57-year-old Latinx woman affected by polio since her youth. Despite facing physical challenges, she has maintained incredible resilience and determination. The role involves embodying the essence of Norma’s journey, from her academic achievements to losing her devoted sister. The actor should be able to deliver a compelling and authentic performance that resonates with the character’s experiences.

Requirements:

We are seeking professional actors with experience and credits to participate in a human emotion AI (Artificial Intelligence) research project. As an actor for this project, you will be tasked with expressing different emotions, both verbally and nonverbally, based on various prompts and emotional storytelling. The project involves improvisation and shooting in a three-camera, green screen studio setup. We aim to create expressive avatars that can emote realistically within virtual environments. Please note that this project does not intend to replace actors whatsoever, but rather requires their expertise to cover a broad range of emotions and micro emotions to train our technology to better understand human emotion. Shooting for this project began in July and pays $150 per hour for approximately 3 hours of work. 
   
NOTE regarding the current WGA and SAG strikes: Our project does not qualify as struck work. This is a fully research-based project and is in no way affiliated with the AMPTP. We strongly adhere to the ethical use of AI technology, and we are fully compliant with all global data privacy acts – this is a matter we take very seriously. Your likeness and voice will be used to train an AI database to better understand and express human emotions, but your individual likeness will not be used for any commercial purposes.

However, post-polio syndrome eventually forced her to retire.

As NORMA PEÑA, the actor will be responsible for embodying the character’s strength, resilience, and determination. They will portray her emotional journey as she reminisces about her life and the profound absence of her sister, who stayed by her side throughout her struggles with polio.

Requirements:

  1. Physical Appearance: The actor must be 57, portraying a Latina/Latine character.
  2. Physical Disability: We are specifically looking for actors with any physical disability to audition for this role.
  3. Los Angeles Local Hire: Only talent based in Los Angeles will be considered for this casting call.
