Major North Carolina extras casting director is headed to Savannah, Georgia to filmĀ UndergroundĀ season 2.
With very few jobs in North Carolina’s film industry, film crew workers are traveling by the dozens to Georgia. Now, one of the biggest extras casting companies in North Carolina, is headed to Savannah, Georgia to cast a new season of the WGN seriesĀ Underground.
According to Wilmywood, Marty Siu of Marty Siu Casting is the extras casting director for season two of WGN’s Underground. The first season ofĀ UndergroundĀ was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and while Louisiana has revamped their filming incentives, producers have decided to take their business elsewhere.
Production for the 10 episode season starts thisĀ August 29th and will film through December 1st.
āUndergroundā follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom, aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back, dead or alive.
āUndergroundā features Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Christopher Meloni, and Aldis Hodge.
It’s important to note that only a few years ago, North Carolina once had the largest film industries in the world.Ā However, after the filming incentives were capped, many producers decided to film in Georgia, where the state provides a 30% tax credit to qualified productions.
