NBC’s Dolly Parton movie Coat of Many Colors 2 will film in Atlanta, Georgia.
Following the success of Dolly Parton’s NBC made-for-TV-movie, Coat of Many Colors, NBC announced that they will be filming a sequel and according to reports, the movie will film in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dolly Parton is returning to NBC just in time for the holidays. The network announced on Wednesday that they plan on filming a sequel to the country singer’s successful 2015 movie, Coat of Many Colors. The movie will then premiere this December.
The movie will bring back the movie’s original cast including Jennifer Nettles, Ricky Schroder, Gerald McRaney and Alyvia Alyn Lind as young Dolly Parton.
The NBC Dolly Parton biopic, The Coat of Many Colors focuses on Dolly Parton’s upbringing as her family struggles to live in the Tennessee Smokey Mountains. Dolly aspires to become something great but is forced to deal with family troubles, including the premature birth and death of a baby brother. Dolly’s mother, Avie Parton uses the baby’s blanket to make Dolly her patchwork coat of many colors. Although Dolly is at first proud of her new coat, she changes her mind after bullies pick on her. Meanwhile, her father is struggling with depression and financial hardship.
The first movie spent over $6 million dollars in Georgia which help add to Georgia’s growing film industry.
