Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy was a massive success, featured in the Netflix top 10s for five weeks straight after its release on June 22nd. From June 19th to July 24th, it amassed 301.85 million hours watched.
On August 25th, Netflix announced that we would return for a final season with the Hargreeves.
The following people are confirmed to return for the fourth season: Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.
The only news we have received since that initial announcement came from Netflix Tudum in the form of a blooper reel release.
ProductionWeekly reports that according to its current information, filming for season 4 of The Umbrella Academy will begin in February 2023 under the codename Kodiak.
According to another production resource, Season 4 will film between Q1 2023 and Q3 2023.
This means that the series may wrap in September 2023 at the latest. All prior show seasons have been filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Season 4 will also continue filming there.
What does all this mean for a release date?
Given how much post-production work is required for a show like The Umbrella Academy, it seems increasingly likely that the show will be able to return for its final season in early 2024.
The showrunner of The Umbrella Academy is working on two other big projects for Netflix, as you might know.
Steve Blackman, who has a contract with Netflix, is currently working on Horizon Zero Dawn, Serving as an executive producer. Additionally, he’s also creating a new series called Orbital, which is classified as a thriller set on the International Space Station.
