Syfy network is in development for a Superman prequel series
Another comic book show is hitting your TV sets. Syfy is hiring David S. Goyer, the man behind The Man of Steel to develop a Superman origin story called Krypton.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krypton takes place years before Superman is born, when the HOuse of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama which is currently in development, will follow Superman’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a chaotic planet into one that gives rise to Superman.

The new series will be written by Ian Goldberg, the writer of Once Upon a Time and Flashforward and the TV series will be just like Fox’s Gotham.
The drama is in the same vein as Fox’s DC Comics take Gotham, which tells the origin story of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and features a pre-teen Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) before he became Batman.

Krypton is the latest TV series to be inspired by a comic book. TNT is currently developing a drama series, Titans, where a group of superheroes fight bad guys. Titans will include Nightwing, Starfire, and Raven. Krypton will join The CW’s The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl NBC’s Hellblazer, Constantine, and Fox’s Gotham as the next comic book series turned TV show.
