Meet the New Executive Director: Carroll Morton
Carroll Morton has just been appointed the new executive director of the New Orleans Film Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to film. Carroll isn’t new to the film world. As a matter of fact, she has been pivotal in the New Orleans film scene since 2018. Before this appointment, she was the director of the City of New Orleans Film Office.
Drive for Cultural Preservation and Growth
Carroll is passionate about the culture of New Orleans. She’s determined to help it grow while keeping its unique heritage intact. She will use this drive in her new role as she helps steer the society forward.
But, what does this mean for the society?
Carroll’s mission is to inspire and educate the audience through film. She wants to make sure that diverse voices are heard and that their stories reach us. She believes that through storytelling, we can challenge our thoughts and be entertained at the same time.
The Journey Ahead
Carroll is excited about this new adventure. As she explained recently, “I am deeply honored to step into the role of Executive Director at the New Orleans Film Society. I am eager to work alongside the incredible team at NOFS and build upon its legacy. I want to ensure that the film industry in New Orleans remains vibrant and integral to our economic and cultural heritage.”
Carroll Morton’s Achievements so Far
Before this appointment, Carroll made several impressive achievements at the New Orleans Film Office. She’s known for launching the city’s first film industry training program. Carroll also had a hand in shaping film legislation, creating comprehensive film policies and protocols, and improving film data tracking systems.
Earning the Excitement and Confidence of the Board
Laura Ashley, the board president of the New Orleans Film Society, is thrilled to welcome Carroll. She says, “Her experience, vision, and dedication to the New Orleans film community make her the perfect leader to take NOFS to the next level.”
The New Orleans Film Society Today
Just a little bit about the society, it was founded in 1989. It organizes the Oscar-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival every year. Plus, it also does some cool stuff like free and low-cost screenings for the local community. The next New Orleans Film Fest is marked for October 16-27.
A final note…
Carroll Morton’s dedication and commitment to the film industry, coupled with her strong vision for cultural preservation, will play a crucial role in the future of the New Orleans Film Society. Under her leadership, the society is set to continue its journey towards promoting and supporting diverse voices in film, while also contributing immensely to the city’s economic and cultural heritage.
