Welcome folks! We’ve got some thrilling news from the entertainment district. Do you remember hearing earlier this year that big shots, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, will be teaming up in RIP, a crime thriller? Well, we have more juicy updates for you!
New Entrants to RIP
Sasha Calle, the actor who amazed us in The Flash, playing Supergirl, and the heart-touching singer cum actor Teyana Taylor, who took our breath away in the drama A Thousand and One, have hopped on board. But that’s not all! The Hollywood Reporter has let out that two more stars have joined the exciting cast – Catalina Sandino Moreno, who we loved in the From series by MGM+, and NĂ©stor Carbonell of ShĹŤgun fame from FX/Hulu.
A Sneak Peek into RIP
Our insider news tells us that RIP is an exciting story about a group of cops in sunny Miami. Trouble starts brewing when they find a ton of cash hidden away in a creepy, forgotten stash house. As news of their ‘seized treasure’ reaches outside ears, trust among them starts shaking, and they’re left wondering who they can really trust. Sadly, the filmmakers have their lips zipped about who Damon, Affleck, Calle, and Taylor will be playing. However, we hear that Moreno and Carbonell will be donning police uniforms!
The Masterminds Behind RIP
Besides starring, Damon and Affleck have donned the producer’s cap along with Luciana Damon and Dani Bernfeld, representing Artists Equity. The company’s poster boys, Michael Joe, and Kevin Halloran are the executive producers. The filming is reported to swing into action later this month in Miami and Los Angeles.
More on Joe Carnahan
For those of you unfamiliar with Joe Carnahan, prepare to be amazed! He’s the genius behind hits like Blood, Guts, Bullets & Octane; Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team, The Grey, Stretch, Boss Level, and Copshop. He’s also had a hand in screenplays for noteworthy films like Pride and Glory, El Chicano, and the remakes of Death Wish and Bad Boys for Life. Though he stepped away from directing the mentioned remakes and Mission: Impossible 3 due to creative disagreements, his talent as a director is beyond dispute.
Damon and Affleck’s Collaborations
Remember when Damon and Affleck shared the screen in School Ties, Glory Daze, Chasing Amy, Dogma, The Last Duel, and Good Will Hunting? The last one even scored them a Best Original Screenplay Oscar! They’ve also graced the screen in the evergreen Jay and Silent Bob movies and in the somewhat unexpected movie, Field of Dreams. With such a stellar history, RIP is expected to be another notch in their cap.
